    FAE - 2006 Tige 24V - Teak Platform

Anyone else buy a FAE from Larry for a 2006 Tige 24V? How difficult was it too install? Any issues after the install? Also, please confirm the only holes that need to be drilled are in the platform, not the boat.

I'm convinced this is a good purchase. Any additional insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be in Austin tomorrow. Depending on forum input, I'll call Larry tonight with an order.

    Thanks

    Paul

Realistically if you can drill holes, unscrew/screw screws, put together bolts and nuts, and follow detailed instructions provided by FAE, then you should be able to put the exhaust on in about 2-3 hours.

    NO HOLES IN BOAT!!

If you have trouble at all during the install, Larry is great as far as support. If you want the rest of us to give you the support as you are installing it, just post and there should be someone on to help at that time. Otherwise PM me and we can chat on the phone.

It's an easy install and shouldn't be worried about at all.

Thanks Embo. Has anyone not been pleased with the FAE? Based upon your comments and others on this forum, it seems like a wise investment. The $100 savings is also a plus!

hmmm....the only thing I have heard of those that own one is if you get the painted (not the chromed version) it has been known to peel or wear off. Although it sounded like those poeple had had them for a pretty long time and where being used in relatively sandy areas ie. used close to the beaches. But according to majestic, they are all stainless steel whether they are painted or not. I have a friend that has one of the painted versions for a long time and his still looks like new. I also have the painted one but I'm also a new Tige owner as of this summer. I don't know if the chrome version is worth the extra money. My thoughts are it's under the water except when on a trailer. If a person is worried about it's looks then maybe they should have the bottom of the boat painted with a design as well . Either way I don't know of anyone not liking FAE. I guess those that like the low growl of the engine might miss that but that is one of the benefits in my opinion to having it. I made two vids of my boat without the FAE on it the night we got it. And then one once I had it installed the next day. The vids really don't do it justice because of the water noise. But when actually in the boat you will notice a difference in noise from the exhaust.

We found out about FAE due to surfing with a friend during the summer. He went out with us to check out the boat we eventually purchased. We both commented on how loud the boat was when we were test driving the boat. Then I put FAE on and he came out with us. During the first 30 minutes he realized how quite the boat was and commented on what a difference the FAE made compared to the day we test drove the boat.

I rest easy knowing we have done all that we can to divert the harmful exhaust down and away from our surfing buddies and also kept it out of the boat due to the circulation of the exhaust while traveling at low speeds.

People always worry about the top end speed being reduced and then someone always points out that you are not buying the boat to go fast you are buying it to ski, wakeboard, wakesurf, and tube. Even barefooters can ski behind the boat if they want. I got my boat up to 40mph with throttle to go with out even thinking about it. I believe barefoot skiers go around 37-38mph.

Thanks again Embro. I just purchased the FAE from Larry. I'll pick it up tomorrow while in Austin.

Larry was most helpful and informative. He also reduced the price by $100 as he's clearing out this year's inventory.

Great!! Well if you have questions then it sounds like Larry could probably come over and help with the install. I doubt very much that will be needed. You guys in tx are so lucky to have the long season you have. If you get a chance, take the boat out before you put FAE on. That way you will have some kind of bench mark on what it is like before and after instead of relying on our opinions.

Unfortunately, the boat has already been winterized. Also, I won't be able to pick the boat up for at least a week.

The depth finder wasn't working properly so it's being repaired. Other than one loose speaker wire, this was the only issue with the boat

              Thanks again.

Sweet! Nice call on the FAE. It's pretty easy to do. Just take your time. Measure THRICE, cut once.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

The only complaint I have with the fae is it makes the boat so quiet you start hearing rattles and squeaks you never heard before. That stuff annoys the heck out of me!

2005 24V with Teak, no problems. Even with an impact the clamps have allowed the downpipe to swivel back a little instead of straight down. No ill effects except a little rooster tail.
