    Is this a deal killer?

Ultimately it will come down to the price you are getting the boat for but can you experienced Tige owners chime in on whether the standard 270hp carbuerated motor ('03 21i) would be a real deterrent. For a family boat that will be used for ski/ride/surf can it give years of fun or is the 315hp a must?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know but I can say if there is an issue, a reprop will help out with power.

If you boat at the same lake every time, probably not a big deal. However, if you go to different lakes a lot that have major differences in elevation (3000+ ft.), it might not work out so well for you. The carburated motors can struggle with the tune on them with major elevation changes.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Carb = deal killer for me......mainly because I hate trying to figure out why they won't start. Regarding power, Even the 315hp mpi is sketchy at altitude. I love it in seattle, but i took it to bear lake this summer and it was a complete dog......couldnt believe it was even the same boat

Do yourself a favor and hold out for mpi fuel injection. Effortless starts every time seem to make the day go a little smoother

X2...I would be leaning towards this as well.

I personally would not be afraid of a carbureted engine but I do LOVE the fuel injection on my boat now. I like Rochester 4 barrels myself, not sure what that boat has for a carb but an upgrade in the carb can get you some easy HP too.
