Well, I guess you got me on that one. GM took their same engine and improved it 4 times whereas Ford threw their design out the window each time and started completely over even though the 7.3L is the worlds greatest engine. LOL!

I like both trucks, the Ford guys just make it too easy to pick on them! Seriously, both of these pickups that any Joe off the street can go and buy and tow 18,000lbs with is incredible! And to top it off, anyone that has ever towed up that stretch of road knows that just getting an unloaded vehicle up that hill is no easy feat! My guess is that Ford will correct the problem with a calibration change and the story would be quite different.

Few more miles per gallon? It's decimal places (.06 gallons on 318 miles). Good thing they had that 10hp and 65lb ft for the hill climb cuz that helped em keep the deficit to only 2 minutes.

Both great trucks but Ford is killing me with 4 engines in 10 years, that's what I'm getting at! Hopefully for Ford that this is just a bad calibration or something that can be easily adjusted. I live and tow at altitude so I want to make sure that I'm getting the power that I paid for.

As stated above chevy has had 5 engines. Those are all chevy, all DMAX (GM/Isuzu Diesel Engines).

Ford has had the 7.3, 6.0, 6.4 all at the mercy of Navistar. Those are all designed and built by Navistar. Not Ford. (Which is why Ford and Navistar are in court room over warranty claims.) You know how many 03 to 05 DMAX's need 6K worth of injectors every 30K miles, that dont get warranted. At least ford warranted there problems and still are even if they dont believe they are their fault.

This New 6.7L will be there 1st real proof of how good a Ford Engine really is. And from there past i would say you all are in for a rude awakening. The gas 5.0L 5.8L push rod motors have out lasted, out ran, less problems, then any GM 305 350 i have ever seen, and my eyes have probly seen more 5.0's, 305's, 351's, and 350's then most. Those chevys are know for oil leaks dont fight it its common knowledge. I have seen more fox body's fly down the track with 200 to 250,000 miles on them with original bottom ends then i have ever seen the precious non existent camaro's (until 2010).

So to sum up this ridiculousness i will come back to this thread 10 years from now to see how the 6.7L did.

Oh and i got nothing against GM a few of my dream cars are 69 Camaro, 67 Chevelle, 65 Impala, 70 Chevelle and 59 Cadillac. Oh and the women just bought a 2011 Camaro (nice car cheap interior but they always were so, other then that its pretty nice car).

Im not to fired up actually i just like to clearly state what i say.

In the last thread i was pretty fired up..... but like i said there is no discussion to be had here until a few years from now. Unless its a piece of crap and start having the same issues across the board.

Yep, time will tell and I would bet that Ford will make improvements on this 6.7L and change it from "Scorpion" to who knows what. All 3 mfr's are making advances in diesel faster than they can push them to market. It's a win for every truck consumer. 800lb/ft from the factory and a quick calibration change and it's probably 1,000lb/ft on tap.

I don't know where you get you information from but this is the farthest from the truth.
The only issue GM had with there injectors were the 01-04.5 and they made a special policy which covered them under warranty until around 200,000 miles. They updated the design of the fuel filter and have not had any problems since then.

wont tow like a diesel will those tundras do look sick but they arent for me.

this new diesel from ford is supposed to be around for a long time, and based on their track record with other motors they produce in house, im not worried about the quality of this new diesel. They rushed production of the 6.0L so it wasnt perfect when it came out, thats really all it is. what issues have your heard about from the 6.4? not many.... the 6.7 should be killer, it may not make the most power off the lot, but its easily unlocked (much like the other trucks) but i would count on the ford motor holding the power vs. any other motor. call it simply me being a brand loyalist to the extreme, but my 7.3L with 140,000 on the clock has made me a happy boater getting me to the lake. especially since i get to pass priuses up hill while in tow

every motor will have issues. but the 6.4 didnt have the problems the 6.0 did, is all im saying.

Keep in mind that the Dmax is basically maxxed out in its numbers, chevy cant do much else to bump up the power. Ford is not even close to maxxing out that motor.
but this just means chevy will have to come out with somethin new in 2012
