HD Rumble in the Rockies - Chevy wins

Just read this HD truck shootout on the new Duramax vs. the new 6.7L Powerstroke and was floored at how bad the Chevy whooped the Ford at altitude. Ford's not even in the ballpark on this test which surprised the hell out of me!
    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2010/11...e-rockies.html

I drive my truck on this stretch of road pretty frequently during the snowboarding season and unloaded my truck (07.5 duramax) just rockets past the other traffic on this climb.

The Ford F-350's best time up the grade was 10 minutes, 46.8 seconds at an average speed of 42.41 mph. The top speed was 58.5 mph, and it happened just before the point where the grade increased from 5 percent to 7 percent.
The Chevy Silverado was significantly faster. It finished more than two minutes ahead of the F-350, in 8 minutes, 38.2 seconds. Average speed cruising up to 11,000 feet was 53.63 mph, 11.22 mph faster on average than the Ford. The Chevy’s top speed was 67.38 mph for a few seconds before the grade changed from 5 percent to 7 percent.

The Chevy and Ford had similar performances at the start of their runs. The Ford clicked off the quarter-mile in 31.25 seconds at 45.13 mph, and the Chevy ran the same distance in 28.93 seconds at 50.3 mph. But the Chevy was already coming on like a freight train at that point. It took the Silverado 28.56 seconds to go from zero to 50 mph, while it took the Ford 42.02 seconds.
2 minutes!?!?! The Ford's not even in your rearview mirror at that point. LOL!

Ya right on my truck will never see a mountain in its entire life. Not to mention i dont even own a Diesel. But when i do pick one up it will be the 2011/2012 F250 cuz it looks so much better.

Not trying to start this all over again but is that the only test that show it on top?

No, their 2011 HD shootout had the Chevy win almost all of the performance categories but it was against the old 390hp tune and not the newer 400hp tune.

Not sure that I could be much clearer but I will rephrase. This was not the only test that Chevy came out on top on. The Chevy beat the Ford in almost every category in their shootout.

The first one that I posted about is WITH the 400hp tune. Looks like Ford may want to jump to a 500hp to keep up with Chevy's 397
