If your kids love the boat they will proabably be disapointed when they go off to college and you get rid of the boat. They will still want to use it on summer break when you'll want to use it as well. You've got time to figure this one out though.

Most of the deprecation happens when the boat is driven off the lot, just like a car. Look at NADA for a similar boat 4 years older and you'll see what I mean. However, unless it a wooden Cris Craft, boats are an investment in family time, not money. You should know that a perfect boat in perfect condition will break, and that BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand, and if you love being on the water as much as I do, it doesn't matter what type or condition the boat is in, being on the water is another state of mind, its just beautiful.

Having said that, boats that are made for the activities that YOU like to do on the water will make the time a little more enjoyable, that is why I sold my Bayliner and bought a Tige.

I think it is hard to say anything on the condition by pictures. Fine details just don't show. It actually looks to be showroom condition in the pics (which I am sure it isn't with that many hours). I think average condition for a boat with nearly 300 hours would be to expect a fair number of dings and scratches.

Depends on your definition of average...as best I can tell, I would call it above average.

I thought that was only for Marine Power...I think he should be able to do Perfect Pass since it has PCM, no?

      Or do what he said.

NADA puts average retail at 31K without any options, like stereo and tower.

Let's just put it this way: I may be in a situation where I have to help my parents with a home down payment soon. If that happens, I will liquidate my boat and look for the best buy at around 30K I can find. I will keep this guys phone number if you don't buy that boat.
      Be excellent to one another.

I think the price is a great deal. I dont think there is anyway it would only be worth half four years from now.Unless you abuse the hell out of it.
yes perfect pass can be added because it has a pcm engine. or atleast they did offer it in the past. I just worked on an 06 that had a pcm and the drive by wire perfect pass.
I also agree the boat looks to be in very good condition but it is always hard to tell from pics.
If your kids are just learning the boat will make a very good wakeboard/ski wake stock, and like CHP said the one sack will give you a very good start on surfing. Thats why when you started asking about boats and listed all the different sports you wanted to do tige was the perfect choice. The Avy your looking at makes a good wakeboard/surf wake but the ski wake is nowhere near as good as a Tige.

BOAT = break out another thousand - great comment. However, I think I can top that when I reflect on my last classic car.

I naively thought I would make some money on a 1972 Stingray Corvette that I restored. Unfortunately, the combination of a soft economy and my attention to detail resulted in a $12,000 loss.

Yet, despite the loss I had a blast and made some great friends. Here are some pics of the finished car

dave s this is a excellent question?it will tell you if you should look for dings and dents on the hull. wether or not the brakes, tires and suspension have wear. also if it was towed with cover on that will have wear. op asked for advice and i gave it only knowing hours and year of boat. this is called logic you could use this next time you read a post. as for the asking price it seems fair and the advice you have been given to present an offer is excellent. SEE DAVE S I SUPPORT OTHER GOOD IDEAS! LOL

Thanks again to all for the excellent advice. If the boat inspection goes well on Tuesday, I will buy the boat.

Paul, just a FWIW, I have a place at Possum Kingdom and if memory serves me correct, that boat has been advertised for sale for most of the latter part of the summer and fall. Might give you a little more bargaining power. The rust on the trailer is from the high salt content of PK. Comes in from the salt fork of the Brazos.

I'm not a fan of the teak maintanence.

It looks to be missing a rack, speed control, spare tire and tower speakers.

                          What's it got for ballast?

                          Otherwise, nice boat.
Ha ha ha ha funny stuff funny stuff for sure.

Salt? Salt = bad. I would use that as a bargaining chip. Salt can be controlled but, you need to be extremely vigilant about it. The boat needs to be flushed immediately upon trailering, like within 10 min. The effects of not being vigilant won't pop up immediately but, salt dries fast and likes to eat metal and gaskets. If your inspector can pull the exhaust manifolds and and the thermostat and check for salt, I would advise it. FWIW, I have had mine in extremely high alkali water a few times and never had a problem. You just need to be careful.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

So you don't think it is a nice boat?

The 06 Avy with 58 hours is $31,000. The Avy has ballasts and speed control. It too is a nice boat. However, I'm strongly leaning towards the 06 24v because the extra 2 feet is pretty sweet!
