We have a weird quandry going on here, and I thought I'd get the combined wisdom of the site.
As mentioned elsewhere here, we recently purchased a new (leftover) 2009 24Ve. It has the Alpha Z tower. We also purchased the nonswivel wakeboard racks in a separate box and planned to mount them once the boat got home.
The racks came with two sets of mounting screws. Both are 1/2 inch diameter stainless bolts with allen heads. One set is 2.5 inches long, the other 3.0 inches.
When I tried to use those bolts in the prethreaded tower holes, they wouldn't fit. Further investigation revealed that the tower threads are 7/16, not 1/2. So the factory included the wrong bolts - whoopie, I'll get the proper ones locally.
The weird part is that the dealer says those bolts fit on other Alpha Z towers just fine. They have installed those racks on other Alpha Z's and the tower threads are 1/2 inch. Given the rock-solid reputation of my dealer (Forte's), I would question my own observations except that I personally took a 3/8, 7/16, and 1/2 bolt out to the tower and tried each one. The 3/8 was too small, the 1/2 was too large, and the 7/16 threaded right in perfectly.
So... does anyone here know if Tige made the Alpha Z with different thread sizes?
Thanks!
