      Tim,
Right now I have 1 pair of Pro 80X on my Alpha Z tower. I want to add a second pair, but I have a wiring issue. The hole that the wires run through the hull is only big enough for 2 pairs of wires. If I add the second pro 80's I could run them together and have two 2ohm loads. My question is if I do that would the syn2 be enough amp for those speakers (with a 2ohm load in stero), or can the syn4 run in 2ohm bridged mode? The syn4 option would give me more power, but I am not sure that it could handle the load.
      Thanks for the input.

        David,

Each speaker only needs one pair of wires.

If you have the one set of 80X from the factory. It is paired with a SYN-2. Right now that amp is running at 4 ohms stereo. Each speaker is a 4 ohm speaker. When adding the second pair. You wire them in parallel. With the positives together and negatives together. This will put that amp into 2 ohms stereo.

What the impedance the speakers are and how many and how they are wired is what determines the load the amp sees' One pair of 4 ohm speakers in stereo, the amp plays 4 ohms stereo. Two 4 ohm pairs of speakers in parallel, the amp sees a 2 ohm stereo load. Two pairs of 4 ohm speakers in series and the amp sees a 8 ohm load. And so on. Also, remember that when you double the amount of speakers to get the lower impedance. You increase the amplifiers power. BUT, then that power is split back out to all the speakers.

But for you particular set up. This is exactly how it is done at the factory as well. One pair or two pairs off a SYN-2. So yes the SYN-2 has plenty of power for both pairs.

We run Dual SYN-4 amps on our demo boat. One amp per pair of towers. In bridge mode the SYN-4 does 400x2. So this is what the SYN-4 would actually be running at.

        Hope this helps.

Good deal. So what I will do is then add a second pair of pro80x and run them in parrell thus each pair (two on the left channel and two on the right channel) will be a 2ohm load. I just wanted to make sure the syn2 was a good choice. The boat did not have any tower speakers on it when I bought it. I added the 1st pair of speakers and installed them on a jbl 4ch amp. I was running this amp bridged. I will buy the syn2 and another pair of 80x. Do this combo quailfy for the 20% off?

            David,

You are correct. Yes the 80X and SYN-2 are on the group buy. Give us a call at 877-938-7757 and we will see where you are at and what local dealer we have near you.

            Thanks
