NEW TIGE sound system-PROBLEM!

Hey all

I have just taken delivery of my TIGE.....i love it.

I have a small issue which became apparent on its first day out.

I opted for the upgraded KICKER sound system which was well worth it.
We noticed that once the system is on and we adjust the TAPS that there is this CLIPPING sound coming through the system.

I would like to know if its normal and if so how do I get rid of it.

No it's not normal, take it back to your dealer for repair.

You probably need to add another ground. Hope this helps.

I haven't seen a Tige' ever that the sound system worked properly.

Mine has never worked.

We're in another summer with no sound system.

Mine works fine, never had any problems with it (knock on wood).

I thought I was having a problem last weekend when everytime we hit a wake the CD player skipped to the next track. After close examination (and some cursing) we determined that the cd case in the glove compartment was boucing and hitting the button on the head unit causing it skip to the next track! Dang...did we feel like idiots.

Are you running two batteries? If you're running two batteries try running it with the switch in the A+B position. It's possible that a single battery may not be able to handle the power requirements of the TAPS actuator and your stereo AMPS at the same time.

I'm running 2- clarion amps, clarion head unit, 2- tower speakers, 6- clarion cabin speakers, 1- clarion 10" sub, and two digital remotes with two batteries and I've never experienced the clipping you describe.

I have two batteries and the same sound as you have. i opted for the kicker upgrade.

I spoke to some local techies and they al had varying opinions. Some say it's the "spark" when the taps is switched on and others say it the power cables that are either too close to the sound's wires or that the head unit is utilizing the same power as the taps.

They will come around this week to check it out.

What are the symptoms, if there are any other than it doesn't work. Maybe we can troubleshoot it here for you.

We had an issue when we first got the boat, hit a big wake and everything quit. Turned out to be a grounding issue, not too hard to fix.

I've got to believe it's related to the stereo getting enough power/voltage.

When you adjust TAPs, do you notice that all of your other gauges are affected? I think it sucks enough power to impact some of the other gauges and/or anything electrical perhaps.
