    SUCCESS!

So I wrote a long blog entry, it contains a lot of information I have already posted about, but I think many of you will think its worth the read.

    http://wake9.com/community/entry.php...r-a-Sneek-Peek

That said, we have tested various weightings since we got our RZ2 and then made measurements and ordered custom sacs that we felt would be the perfect setup for this boat. My goal was enough weight to give a competition level wake, rubrail kissing the water, with only myself and a couple tikes in the boat. This would simulate very closely what an average family with 2-3 teenage kids should expect.

    Here is the setup.

    Rear Surf Side: 1350 lbs
    Front Surf Side: 400 lbs
People weight: 590 lbs (400 lbs in ballast boy seat, Maddie driving, T & J, all over the place. ;-) )
    Total: 2340 lbs.

Taps was at 2, and speed at 12mph. We noticed a bit of wash and you will see in the video. Then we go to taps 3, and it was SUPER clean. You can hear on the video when I tell RJ taps are now at 3. We had very little time, and we will test more on Friday, both sides, during the day. The key to this test, is it is a year in anticipation, of getting a factory boat, only swapping the rear sac with a larger size, and that is it. So RJ did the swap with a pair of channel locks while floating in the lake in 30 minutes. The system is still completely stock, works perfect, just swaped out the sack. We will be publishing a full podcast with the whole process soon, I was so excited, I wanted to throw out this test.

Dude, the wake was sick, and just a simple swap, and its still fully automated. IMHO, that makes the RZ2 the first boat from a factory with a comp wake. Its like the old days, you could buy an SS nova that was ready for the quarter mile track, you just had to swap the tires.

Mike will be selling these sacs, but I would wait until we do our full test on friday. I am thinking I can make the sacs 2 inches taller and get another 150 lbs in there, it doesn't go all the way to the top.

Remember that last adjustment mike? But let me spend some more time. In about a week, I think I would be ready to tell mike go for it, or just add the 2 inches.

Mike, as I suspected, it empties as well as any other large sac, still a bit of water on the bottom, but leaving the same fitting placement, and anchoring it correctly I think was the key. It doesn't move, very solid. But lets see after a few fill/empty cycles. This is the best setup yet.

Nice! I assume the custom sack is similar to the Enzo and extends foreword a little bit under the bench?

Yes, I video taped us installing and putting in, so you will see that. The sacs are identical, except for length. The starboard side is 66 inches long, designed to but right up to the cooler. I made the port side is 90 inches long and goes well up the side, but not all the way. I calculated to make the sacs put the weight where we felt it was best due to our testing, and it seems to have worked well. The only change I may make, is make the height of the sac in the locker, 26 inches, instead of 24, to fill all the way to top. But I want to do more testing first. Even though the locker is under 24 inches tall, the sacs kinda squat down. So I may make that change, and then call it final.

Where do you put your boards on the way to the lake. Right now I put a surf board and a wakeboard in that rear locker and another wakeboard under the observer seat. Then at the lake I put them on racks, do the large sacks still allow that type of storage? When I get home I plan to make an easily removable board holder/rack for the floor of the boat that will keep them from moving and hitting the fiberglass and to lock them down so they won't fly out at highway speed. What do you do?

Also, what are you doing up this early? It's 0630, 0430 your time?

I am working on some server updates, and I have to do those either very early, or late at night. I am a software developer, most of us are part vampire.

Our boat is in a slip, but for the most part, when the sacs are empty, you still have the storage. You just have to move stuff when you fill. We keep our life jackets and stuff in one side, and move to the other if we are switching sides.

Also, with the new towing cover, just throw that on, and no problem. This is the first towing cover that is TRULY a towing cover. We towed from Seattle to home and never even had to adjust it, amazing. And we had a ton of stuff under it, boards, all kinds of stuff.

Cool, i figured you had to get up this early to get the computer back from RJ. I like the cover too but if just put the boards on the floor in the boat I am worried about them sliding and cracking the fiberglass in the passenger compartment. That's why I want to try and build some sort of quick set up drop in/out plywood or something board racks to keep them in one place while towing, then pull the rack out and leave it in the truck when we are on the water, then quick and easy install for the drive home. In TX this is not a problem, it's 25 mph speed limits in my neighborhood to the boat launch about 1/2 mile away. I'm going to miss that lake and house...

Get the computer back from RJ, lol. If you came to my house, you would realize how funny that is. We have more computers than most people have bars of soap. He is on a macbook pro 15 inch, and I am on a mac pro.

Anyway, its just funny to me, because its my life.

Impressive! I keep wanting to get pics of my 21V for you but everytime I go out, my son goes on a dang marathon wakeboard run and it's getting too dark to surf. Hopefully this weekend for sure!
                      Waiting for another good one!

Yup! launched at 4p yesterday and it was 101*. Pulled the boat out at 6:30p and it was still around in the mid 80's. We get that delta breeze that really cools us down in the evening...
We're easily going into late Oct. now.

                              @ Fiveflat and dogbert,
What weighting are you running when surfing
                              Regular?
                              Goofy?

We just picked surfing mid/late this summer.
