    New 22ve Owner

After looking for a boat since last spring I finally found what I was after, a 2007 22ve. I have been lurking around this site for a while and have gotten some good information, thanks.

I was able to take it out to Cherry Creek last Friday with the family and was impressed to see some other Tige's. We are planning on going this weekend then unfortunately it will be time to winterize.

I do have a list of projects to work on this winter. I need to change the steering cable, replace the ignition (key was broke off), clean it, fix a couple of the hatch springs, replace the latch that holds the engine hatch, etc...

I do have several questions, one the prop that is on the boat is a 645. From what I can find this is the same as the 537 but 1/4 inch smaller. I do not have ballast and have a family of 6 (usually will have a couple of friends as well) that likes to wakeboard. Should I look at changing the prop or leaving it as is? The second question is that the ski pylon spins freely, should this be the case? The manual said that it shouldn't be loose. I tried to tighten it but was not successful. If it needs to be tightened how do you do it without damaging the pylon? Last, for today, the Tige tower lights (set of 5), can you replace just a bulb? I tried to take it apart but could not see how to get into it.

Any other input would be welcome as well. Thanks for your assistance.

Agree on prop, you probably won't need a change.

Congrats on the 22Ve! For the pylon, open the engine hatch, the pylon will have a 1 1/16th (pretty sure it is 1 1/16th) nut that is accessible from the bottom side. Use a deep well socket on the nut and a strap wrench (sometimes a belt will work) to hold the pylon from spinning while you tighten the nut. Most light bars use a 55 watt halogen bulb that should be replaceable. Post a picture of your light bar and boat, and hopefully someone can provide guidance. The boat pictures are a requirement of this site!

If you don't have access to a 1 1/16 deep well socket, let me know, I have one for the purpose of tightening the pylon on my 22Ve. I don't live very far from Parker, you can use mine if needed.

I think it is a toss up between the kids and dad. I had gone to Utah to get the boat and my kids thought I was just working so when I pulled up with the boat they were surprised. My wife was not extremely excited about backing the trailer to launch and load as well as drive the boat so I could wakeboard, but she did it and did good for the first time. It will be a lot easier once I get the steering cable changed.

Sad part now is that we have to put it up for the winter and wait for spring. We were able to get out and enjoy several days though and it was great because most people have already called it quits for the year.

Nice looking boat. Like the colors.

BTW, the second pic that you posted looks like your son is kneeling before he bows down and starts to pray. :-D
