While I am new to the family, I have had a chance to tighten the Pylon and the 1 1/16 is correct. I would buy the wrench myself and keep it on the boat. Reading what others say about keeping the boat serviced...keeping that pylon tight is important unless you want spider cracks around it. I suspect you will be pulling some tubes with those kids and this is the place you will be doing that from. Keep it tight...keep the wrench in the boat. I tightened ours just by holding the Pylon and using the wrench on the nut. Got it good and tight that way and didn't mark the Pylon up at all.
Second suggestion is FAE (Fresh Air Exhaust). Can't say enough about this either. I added some vids about it on another thread but they really don't do it justice at all. I would really recommend this. It is a great way to keep the noise down and the exhaust your family could inhale out of the boat. if you are in the Portland area and would like to ride to see it first hand I would be happy to demo it to you. The day we got the boat I put the exhaust on. If your going to surf, which I would really really recommend you do, do yourself and those who surf behind your boat a favor and put it on.
(btw, I don't get anything from FAE, I just believe it this product is all)
We just got ours as well at the end of the season but have mananged with the help of people on this website to get the most out of these few weeks we have had in Oregon. We LOVE OUR BOAT! You will too!
