All I'm saying is just what you said too, Supras are getting rare and owners are holding on to them. If I had one I would not have it out much in FL due to salt in the air, I would wash and pamper that baby like nobody's business. I have a good friend here who keeps 2 of them and uses one as his daily driver. They are very fast and respectable cars with a reputation for bullet proof engines.

1999 - toyota stops sales in US
    2002- toyota stops production

Im sure many more Mustangs were produced in this timeframe. Just saying...
Your definition of collector car is a little bit different then mine.

These have spent more then 30 Years is the beautiful FL Salt Air and Are worth a combined Value of 600K So if you precious Supra is worth more then that and is as rare as only 1053 Built (1968 Shelby GT500KR) then I'd Say thats a Valid Point. Also these cars are still running their OG Motors could still to this day Whip Some A**, were not restored and get driven In this Wonderful FL Salt Air rust free.

So let me ask you something...Whats the point of owning something of value if you cant drive it or take it out of the garage???

i have been restomodding my 91 since i was 14 years old. Nothing that i own has a more sentimental value then that car. My blood and sweat have gone into it, but ill tell you this i am going to drive it all the time and like i stoled it because there is no point in building it with all the time and money if it going to sit and look pretty in my garage.

Those Mustangs are beautiful! And well taken car of cars can do well in FL, and those cars had a production run about the same year for year as the Supras had. I don't think Supras will ever have the prestige and value of a classic Mustang, but maybe we can come back in 30 years and compare apples to apples (big diff in value of a '68 Mustang vs 98 Supra).

I was just trying to explain why you said you don't see many Supras on the road. Supras were awesome cars, just too damn expensive and thats why they didn't sell. You could stroke, poke and blow a regular Mustang GT to get the same performance of a Supra for a lot less money. I just hate to see it get a bad reputation, there just weren't that many built.

Back to the OP, for towing a boat, check the tow rating on the truck, know what you need and get what you like, you have to live with it.

The nice thing is for now, we have the freedom to have these debates and opinions and hopefully our goverment will keep it that way.
P.S I assume all the Toyota owners on this site are wakeboarding behind the Toyota epic, notttt, just kidding , I think we can all agree we love the watersports!

Hey I don't think anyone will argue that when it comes to muscle cars that mustang, vette, camaro etc as far as vintage don't smoke most Jap cars. Its not really apples to apples at that time. Like comparing a small quick ski boat to a big wakeboat.

LOL, What was Ford thinking in '74. I'm embarassed to say I was born that year!
              Honda wasn't doing much better:

The Celica wasn't too bad, but something about the 70's - maybe is was the acid?
              Waiting for another good one!

No all small cars with good gas mileage. Until the new Tundras and Seq no one has done big and roomy better than US car manufacturers that is for sure. The old caddies were as long as excursions and expeditions back in the day! Love a fat old Lincoln or Caddie.

Sheeeesh! What a $hitstorm I started! Thanks for all the opinions either way. I'll research them all more and will add the F250 to my list.
And for what it's worth...my 2002 Suburban was assembled in Monterey, Mexico. My wife's Camry(sold it a few years ago) was assembled in Indiana I think.

Brownclown, Since you are adding the F250 to your list you would be doing yourself an injustice if you don’t consider the F150. I’ve owned a ’89, ’97, ’02, ’05, and now a 2010. Up until the current truck my favorite has always been ’97 4X4 with the off-road package. I actually test drove the F250 and F150 this last time and liked both trucks. I just can’t justify driving a ¾ ton daily, but everything on the new F150 is heavier than earlier models…the cab is huge! Check it out and be sure to let us all know what you decide on. Good Luck!

I see tons of Civics, camrys, integras, etc out there. My dodge work van that only gets highway miles is a total piece of crap AC replaced 3 times, window actuaters 4 times, and the list keeps going on and on. Dom must have good karma because my dodge 2500 van is crap. I have replaced so much stuff on it you cant believe. The only other car I have owned that was worse than any of them was a Volvo S80. Lets me honest if nothing ever broke Dom would be out of business its mechanical parts they all break. Just some more than others and you can always get a lemon.
I have a Friend that was pretty high up in Ford in the south east. He now works for Toyota. He said Toyota and Ford shared inside secrets on building trucks. Toyota basically gave ford their hybrid technology in exchange for Fords truck building knowledge. I think most people would admit when it comes to full size trucks American manufacturers have dominated that market. It was not until the new Tundra's hit the market did the japanese owned trucks start making in roads. I have a Tundra and Tony and the rest can think its a piece of sh@# all they like. If I needed something ridiculous to tow with I would look to an american car manufacturer but as long as I am just towing my boat to Doms and a quarter mile trip to the lake I will keep my Tundra with the smaller 4.7 engine.

Tony would you be just as happy if I drove a Malibu off your lot??? I can just see Tony driving his mustang listening to Molly Hatchet flirtin with disaster. Oh yeah and Obama sucks and so do the rest of the dems!!! Oh and that list you gave us lots of people might question who that was done for me being lower middle class and a small business owner and not a rich one!
The way I see it goes like this. Dom works on so many different vehicles from day to day that he completely forgets when he last fixed his truck. One day rolls into tomorrows, only to be awaken by another day of fixing a car, boat or truck. Dom probably changed out 2 motors and 4 trannies on his truck and completely forgot. That's ok, he's earned his title as top dog Tige / Mustang / Hot Rod guru that nobody would dare say a word if he had mustard on his chin. This entitlement bares all respect for which nobody should dare question his truck with 400,000 miles with original motor, trans, AC, power windows, steering pump, water pump, radiator, and so on. Someday when I can master the art of walking on water, I too will be blessed with an American truck from General Motors that doesn't fall apart. Until then, I'm just nobody driving a Toyota Tundra 4.7liter and still need Dom to service and bless my boat. As for the 3 mustangs worth 600K.....HELL, I'd sell them and buy GM stock when their IPO launches. After I triple my money, pay my taxes, I'd go buy three brand new Mustang GT Cobra's and one Toyota Tundra and put the remaining 1.4 mil in the bank for old age syndrome. Now who's betting with me on the fall elections? Anybody?
