Used boat trailer ?? or Repaint mine??

I own a 06 24v..Love it!!! It came with a Dorsey tandom axle trailer.. But when i bought it i noticed it rusting around the step plates and around the tail lights. Its only a matter of time of the obviouse. It got a little worse this last yr and im in fresh water only. So... Having a hard time finding a used one that fits a "24" ft and/or Matching color.

Any suggestions much appriciated.. Maybe get mine re-painted???

It's the downside of having a cool color matched trailer. One option I have heard about is get it sanded so there is NO rust and get it repainted with Line-x or Rhinoliner. That stuff will last much longer than paint and helps prevent the scratches and nicks in paint which leads to rust.

Paint leads to chips, chips lead to rust, rust leads to breaking down on the side of the road, breaking down leads to anger and anger leads to the dark side.

That's a good idea. Any idea on what that would cost compared to sanding and repainting?

My rust spots started to spread this year. Before it got any worse, I decided to pry all the diamond plate off, sand, and spraypaint the spots. I figured that would buy me a couple more years. Sounds hoaky but it turned out much better than I thought. You would have to look close to see where any repairs are.

I bought a big roll of heavy duty Scotch double sided tape at Home Depot for $15. All the diamond plate is back on and sticks perfectly.

Take it in and have Powder Coated. My trailer is from a company right in my town. MetalCraft. I will be getting mine done next year

We used a rust converter to our old family boat trailer. We sanded/ground out all the rust, treated it, then roller painted it. The treatment left a wavy bumpy surface but it sure was cheaper than a new trailer. That was 4 years ago, and it still is working.
