I don't think he leaves the plug in and allows that much water on purpose or at all. I think he was just asking why can't someone make a steering cable that could be designed for the lowest common denominator, the new owner who leaves the plug in and gets 6 inches of water inside the boat. Most owners would not let that happen but one owner on this site let his boat sit for a year with the drain plug in and the cover failed and the boat filled with rain water.
OK! I confess, I left the darn plug in and NO, I did not read the instructions nor did I do as Dom instructed me. I believe Dom installed a grounding strap when I first bought the boat from Tim White. Why can't they make a cable made of stainless and teflon coated jacket? I'll pay if someone has a more durable solution.
