The only time I notice the lag is pulling up a steap ramp. You have to give it a little more throttle but, once the turbo spools up there aint no stopping it. Pulls like a tank. Also I love the way the turbo on my 03 is extremely loud and sounds like a jet.

Why do you think you were pushing your luck. The 6.0's are no where near as bad as everyone says. It is a good idea if you are real hard on it to put in head studs and do an EGR delete but, there are many out there running extreme tunes with no problems.

Has a big turbo back exhaust system as well. I don't know, guess it's hard to compare it to the newer stuff since stock for stock there is way more power in my truck than this one and it has big tires on it.
i had 35's and stock gears and the edge chip. Just find it odd you had lag on that ride. Most of the people I know who had the 6.0 loved the lack of lag... They would grip about the 7.3's lag and I laughed because I didn't think there was any.

It's not just this truck either, he also has an '03 F250 with the 6.0 and it's the same way. Could the lack of a cat have anything to do with it? Have you pulled with a newer Ford or Chevy for comparison? I drove my other buddy's '08 Ford to Lake Powell and it drove just like my Chevy, no lag at all.

That guy who pointed out the oil trail saved you a new engine. Glad to hear there are good people out there willing to watch out for strangers.

            Count your blessings for sure.
            Be excellent to one another.

I don't have a cat or a muffler. All I know is it is so much better than my old gas 5.4L.

I have hauled with an 06 duramax, and think it's the same.

IDK kinda weird.... I was also running 25 lbs boost, 4 in downpipe and 5 in exhaust.... that might be part of it too....

Did any splash up to the interior? Do you always tow with the cover on?
The guy's windshield was probably coated with oil. I always check for oil leaks (filter & plug) the next day after an oil change. I'm glad the motor wasn't starved for oil, can you say fried crank bearings...been there done that!
