I just noticed something my boat has never done before. Every time I turn her off water fills back into the exhaust. The first time it did this yesterday it sounded like a gurgle like we were taking on water. Neither my wife nor I have heard this before. What's the deal, is this normal? It does it everytime I turn off the motor. By the way, we're at Mead, it beautiful and a complete ghost town.

Water gurgling back into exhaust?

Yup...normal. Exhaust flaps are there to keep water from flooding up into the system when decelerating from speed, but they don't seal completely when the engine is off and the boat is still, so some water will get by. That's why the exhaust manifolds are on the top of the engine, rather than like a car and low on the sides...helps prevent water from getting into the engine.
