    Cracked Rudder

After our day on the water and trailering I found our rudder cracked, 3 inches. I find it very odd that this happened after only 88 hours. There are no impact marks and we never felt anything and by the looks of it, it looks like it has been cracked a while.

Tigé is replacing it which I think is great considering the minamal amout of time that is on it.

Anybody else ever see this happen?

Looks to me as if the center shaft which I believe is stainless , I dont think there cast one piece, rusted and expanded cracking the brass away.
Would like to see rudder when removed , see if you can get some pictures.

            Rushin,

Do you go boating in that salt water lake in Nevada? Still shouldn't make the shaft rust...but you never know about Chinese stainless steel.

The boat has not been in that lake for two years.

That is really strange, I have never seen anything like that happen. Did the boat go through a freeze? I am wondering if water was able to get between the shaft and rudder and then froze?
