What's final resolution w/ limp mode on 07's relating to the throttle?

I have an 07 20V and have just experienced the boat going into limp mode after pulling back to neutral. Shut off/restart and will engage properly for one time. Sometimes will work a couple cycles before having to be restarted. Searched through all the threads and appears to be a voltage or potentiometer problem. My 07 only has the single battery, however, I did notice last night when putting the boat away, that I could hand tighten the wingnut (probably a full turn by hand)on the positive battery connection. Could this be my quick fix? If its the potentiometer, could not find the part # and/or the best place to order from. Thanks for any help. Nearest dealer is not close here in Nebraska. Love the boat otherwise.

I don’t know if I’d say there is a final resolution, but here is what I found when researching this problem when it happened on my boat:
I found 13 members on this forum (includes me) that described the same problem. Of these 13, 7 replaced the sensor at the throttle handle and fixed the problem. One was fixed by adjusting the sensor, and one was bad wiring to the sensor.
4 people did not post a fix. So if you don’t have the dual battery issue, it’s a good bet it’s the sensor at throttle handle.
Yearroundboarder found a source: “It's made by BEI Sensors in Irvine, CA. Model #9861 is a standard part for them and can be bought through one of their distributors. I called Mouser Electronics (www.mouser.com) and ordered Part# 9861R5KL2.0 for $58.50/each.”
To me, it's worth $60 to try this fix first. It’s not too hard to replace.

      Sensor

It worked for me. Do pull the old sensor out first (to double check that it's the same sensor). If I recall, it says BEI on it with the model number (four digit) then a mfg date code below.

Thank you, I will respond when I install the new sensor. Unfortunately, that won't be until next spring as we're done for the year here in Nebraska. Having the part ready to go is peace of mind for the winter.

          Lakes frozen over already

If your boat has the factory EIDB Dual battery system, I would start with swapping the battery wingnuts out for ny-lock nuts and then make sure they both test good and have a full charge. Then, if the problem continues, then the ECM will need to be scanned for codes and possibly while the problem is happening.

No, unfortunately family schedule and my work dictates that Labor Day is the finale. Also, I have only the single battery, however, as I said in my first post, the wingnut on the small threaded positive battery post that secures two small gauge wires was somewhat loose. Possibly the problem? Thanks for the info.

Seriously doubt the 2 small wires w/ loose wing nut is your problem. One of those is prob the bilge pump (always hot / bypasses battery cutoff switch) not sure what the other would be but I doubt it powers the ECM or other critical components.
