I don't really care about the price of the battery. It was the fact that the service guy said he would call me back to let me know what they could do about the situation and they never called me back to tell me if they could or couldn't get me a battery that day.

I have gone out on service calls on sundays, on easter and at night , Ive answered callers from this site on drivabilty issues at a multitude of times at different hours due to time zone difference, so in answer to your ? yes.

And that's why it's important to make sure you build a good relationship with your dealer, they probably won't do that if you go around them to buy a boat.

No kidding, I thought I went out of my way. I even drove back for the 25 hr break-in service and had them install extra cleats. They checked the battery when I dropped the boat off and said it was good, just low on charge but other battery load testers from napa and autozone said it was bad. They said my battery charger was bad and didn't mention or apologize that no one called me back. Crazy thing is I thought they provided good service compared to my last bayliner dealer service dept, but that dealer went out of business recently (for good reason). All this bad blood now over a stupid battery and lack of a phone call. I was going to take it back to them for winterization before driving from TX up to WA but I'm rethinking that idea. I'm also glad I didn't turn in my initial customer satisfaction survey yet.

I can vouch for Dom going out of his way for someone who bought a boat from him. He met me at 9am on a Sat to drop off my bimini that had some warranty work done on it so I could use it that day.

This, and the other thread about boat sales, has been interesting to read. I never knew boat sales worked like this with territorial lines. Not much to add myself, just glad I have a dealer like Dom and his crew in my area. Never felt the pressure of the sale, and feel like I got a great deal on my dream boat.
