We are headed to Mt Horeb, WI on 9/11 for the Thirsty Troll Beerfest and thought we should check out the wakeboarding scene around the Madison area. I see lots of water on the map, but just wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

I have spent many hours on the Lakes in Madison and if you hit them on a weekend they are too crowded to find any nice water. They are also weed choked and have some very shallow areas. You are better off heading north. During the week or early morning or near sunset if you hit them on Saturday /Sunday you can find calm water but make sure you check you depth in the calm areas before making a run. We wound up in 1-2 ft of water a couple of times.
If you are out for just a day on the water the three lakes are interconnected by channels and a lock and dam. You will have to drop the tower to go from lake to lake. The capitol builiding and mansion are kind of neat.
