Hey all. About a month ago our TAPS gauge stopped working on our '00 2100v ltd. It is stuck in the "Wakeboard" position, past the 7, essentially pegged left. The TAPS plate still works. The needle doesn't appear to be just "stuck" because I turned the gauge sideways and the needle wouldn't fall.
I'm trying to determine where the problem is, whether the gauge or the sender, so I followed TigeMD's directions from an old thread: "put a ohms meter across the 2 green wires while cycling the plate up and down. if the resistance changes then the sender is good and you have a gauge problem."... and I got some strange results. With the ignition off I get a small resistance measurement, but when the ignition is on (meaning the gauge is on), I get no resistance across the wires.
With these results it seems like I could have a short in the green wires, but I can't find any area where that would happen. I guess it could also be the sender, but don't want to replace that on a hunch ($173).
Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to better locate the problem.
Also, I'm not quite sure how the "sender" works because the green wire/wires go directly from the gauge to one of the TAPS pistons. Does anyone know how this works? Any information would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Devin
