    Waterproofing older boat cover

When I purchased my 2002 20i it can with a full tarp. I put it on yesterday over my stretch tarp just to see how it would work. It rained over night and it obvious that the old full cover has lost some of its waterproofing capabilities. it is still in great shape so my question is: Is there any way I can re-waterproof it, such as a spray you can buy at you local camping store?

    Thanks

Usually if you have two cloth style covers (canvas, sunbrella, etc) touching each other, they loose their water resistant characteristics. Its like the double condom...it just flat doesn't work. I use a Sunbrella during the spring, summer, fall, and add a plastic tarp over the Sunbrella during the winter.

Also make sure your covers do not allow water to gather. You may need to design/buy a support system to allow water to run off and not pool.

Starbrite waterproofing w/ PTEF. About $50 / gal. at West Marine. spray it on with garden sprayer. I've been really impresesd with how good it works on my basic canvas cover.
