The box anchor website indicates that the XS size (13 lb's) is good for PWC's. They recommend the S size (19 lb) for boat 18' to 30' long. Anyone able to get away with the XS version on a 21 ft or so boat?

I have used a fortress style anchor as well as a box, and I'll use a box anyday. It's so nice to not have to worry about it,just chucnk it in and go. Each to his/her own. I just enjoy not having to toss the anchor a ways out, make sure it's tight etc. box where you wanna sit you drop it. Yeah it's a bit heavy, but worth it IMO.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

I had the small box anchor for my 24V, and in windy conditions (with my 10-foot bimini up), it wold sometimes not hold, so I went to a large, and it seems to have done the trick (although it did move a few feet in a heavy side wind at Havasu this weekend). I kept the small for quick stops in coves, etc.

I have a 22i and own a medium size box anchor. I was sold by all the hype on them offered up on all the wakeboard forums. Now I only use it if I am on a fast flowing river or a very windy lake. Otherwise I find it too bulky and heavy.
The best anchor IMHO is my Fortress aluminium anchor. It is very light and easy to handle.

You may want to take a look at those too.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

okay i was wrong my anchor is the medium and it weighs 19 lbs.i must have eaten too many wheaties it feels light. i agree with most others drop it and forget it. holds like no other. i have a danforth i hate. i about drown myself trying to set it.the box anchor just drop it no matter what the bottom is like. i also have a lake anchor okay if no wind or current. but where we hang out boat are 5' to 6' apart with wind and waves.so for me box anchor it will be. i lend my other anchors to people far away from me.LOLI do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I use a similar anchor to this, that I got from West Marine, just can't find it on the website. Mine was around $40-50 and a little bigger and bright orange. Works great for our beach tie-up with no stern anchor. I do use a fortress anchor on occasion when rafting up to other boats. But I will be adding a box anchor to my anchor set for the lake next summer.Friends don't let friends POWERTURN
