    Price help for 22ve?

    Hi,

One of my Tige owning friends told me to come here and ask for some opinions. I have found a 2008 22ve with 18 hours on it and is show room clean. Has TAPS but no ballast, custom tower and wakeboard racks. Boat is loaded and is on a Dorsey swivel arm heavy duty tandem axle trailer. Boat has a nice stereo, upgraded 340 HP engine, v-drive, graphics (Blue/silver), underwater lighting, bimini top, huge open bow, great full mooring cover, and perfect pass.

He is asking 43k. Is the price right for the Midwest?

Also will TAPS be enough to get a decent surfing wake on this boat? It will be lightly loaded as my kiddos are all still small.

    Thanks for any input.

That setup will not work for surfing so you need some ballast and more is better. We just put 2000 lbs in 08 22 Ve and got an outstanding wave. I'd say 1000 lbs is min depending on the rider and thats easily achieved via fatsac bags and manual fill via Tsunami pump to start with. Of course if u hav elots of friends tht join u frequently then people weight works nicely too. Most shy away from use of lead weight as that can be real dangerous unless in smaller sizes. Others will chime in too.

On the price that seems a bit high but I'm not current on prices. Is it for a used boat or sold as factory new w full warranty in which case might be a decent deal. Is warranty transferable?

Probably need some supplemental ballast to get a decent wake since it's a 22 footer, but easily doable. 18 hours for a 2008 is way low IMHO. I'd try and snag it for between 38K and 43K if you can...would be a bargain.

        Hi James,

Sounds like a fair deal, basically same numbers from NADA website. The wakeboard wake will be pretty good with the TAPS but you will need ballast or a few more friends on the boat to get a nice surf wake. Others will correct me but I don't think the 340 engine was an upgrade, it's the standard engine now and was listed on NADA as the standard engine hp on that boat.

i have a 07 22ve i'm not a surfer but with 800lbs in back it makes real good surf wave.i think the price is fair as it only has 18 hours on it they were in the upper 50's new depending on options. i have over 400 trouble free hours on mine. you can't go wrong with tige.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I did a quick search of 22ve in the western states... every last little place on craigslist and another site. These are the results:

You can search Craiglist to find these boats. They have hours of 50 to 200 hours I believe. I think it would be a good idea to call a tige dealer and have them look up the VIN on that boat to make sure there are no surprises and then go from there. Look over every square inch of that boat and then look it over again. I have found when I take a second look, I usually find something I didn't the first time.

Sorry the search doesn't cover your specific area but maybe it helps just the same.

Good Luck. I have been looking for 2 months I think by the end of this week will finally have one in hand. Ya baby!!!!

Whatever boat you buy, you will want to add additional ballast.

$39K to $43K is what I have seen. There will be another 08 22VE in the Chicago Market Soon for around $50K comparably equipped W/O ballast also.

07-08 20V's in the Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Northern Indiana market have sold between $37K and $39K as point of reference for low hour ( <75 hours) extremely clean boats comparably equipped 20 footers. I recently sold my 20V.

I bought a leftover new (with full warranty) 08 22Ve at the beginning of this season for just under $43m. If he bought it new in 07 then I would think his price is a little high but not too far off. 18 hours is super low hours of course. I would say anywhere from $39m to $41m would be a fair price.

One other thing, my 08 22Ve has all the options except underwater lighting and ballast.

                      Thanks for the input

Thanks for the replies and other great input. I am taking the family out for a spin in it tonight. I grew up around boats and have been mooching boat time off parents and brothers until now. I turn 40 in a month so I think it is time for the youngest to grow up and get his own boat. And I think my boat should be much cooler than either of my brother's boats.

                      Thanks again!

I wasn't wrong when I told James he would get lots of great input from the folks here. Way to go Tigeowners.
