    2010 RZ2 Wake Video

    More to come, much more, but here is some from a post on WW. I made a quick sneak peek to educate a few ignorant. ;-) Tongue in cheek, mostly.

    These are 5 separate clips mashed into one, no editing, other than copy and paste into quicktime pro to put them into one video, no titles, and raw audio, no music.

    Clip 1: This one the beginning of the day, using AIPTEK GVS HD camera with Raynox Wide Angle lens, camera mounted just rear of rear seat, and just above rub rail. James Walker showing some serious skill riding the regular side.

    Clip 2: Chase Hazen on his own board, ripping it up. You will notice in this clip, the wake is doing something weird. We waited it down more than normal. If you set taps at 2+ it started to do this, it got steeper closer to the boat, and then like dimpled down in the middle, and of course the foam in the wake due to vent. Starting with clip 2, we are using different camera. Due to water riding high on boat, I comatosed 3 cameras. This was with a Kodak Zi8 camera with a .45 Wide angle lens, that distorts a bit on the edges, one of the reasons I prefer the aiptek and the perfect raynox lens.

    Clip 3: Just like in clip 1, we put the taps down to 1-2 and that weird effect no wave is not there, looks more normal. Still chase, and a big water booger right in the middle of the lens.

    Clip 4: This is goofy side, the thing is, we had taps above 2 at first, and the wake did the SAME EXACT Thing as on the regular side. On the goofy side, the camera is pointing a bit higher, but when Whitney ride in close, you can see the wake is at the same height. Whitney is about the same height as James. Weighs about 130.

    Clip 5: RJ riding goofy, this is his first time on the flyboy, so getting used to it, not his best ride. RJ is between height of James and Chase, about 150 lbs.

    Both James and Chase made it clear they liked the wake, had a lot of pop and push. James seem to really like it. Dennis also rode on both regular and goofy side, and felt each side had same push and characteristics. Dennis can chime in and confirm that, as he is the only one that rode both sides. Dennis?

    Here is a picture, that shows in a pronounced way what I meant by that weird top dimple in the wake, when you put the taps higher than about 1.5 or so. It was the same on both sides.

    And now for the video.

    I am adding the side video I posted before. It was the same on both sides.

    One more thing to clarify on the video, the reason I included 3 of the regular, the 1st clip with James, shouldn't be compared to anything it was a different lens and mounting position, so gives the wake a different look for comparison. But, that lens and camera give the best look of the entire wake. So then you get to clips 2 and 3, this is the SAME wake, literally. Same day, same setup, same people in boat, same everything. The only difference is the camera and position from Clip 1. However, clips 4 and 5 are with the same camera and position on other side, only I think the goofy side was pointed slightly up higher. Hard to make the same in bright sun on a LCD.

    A = clip 1
    B = clips 2 and 3
    C = clips 4 and 5

    So, if A=B, and you can visually compare B and C and see they are virtually the same, then A also = C.

    Just saying that so that you don't try to compare A to C, not apples to apples due to lens and camera.

      Very Nice,
      Could you give us an idea of how you weighted the boat.
      Front -
      Rear Port -
      Rear Starboard -
      etc...

      thanks

        So is the RZ2 that much different than the 24ve?

          Wow! Very cool video! I can't believe how easy they make it look, just totally effortless!

            Yes, the RZ2 is that much different. It makes a wake so much easier. And even though I could weight my 24ve and get the same wake, there were differences to each side, still minor, that I don't see on the RZ2. The 24Ve, didn't like weight up front, the RZ2 needs it. The 24Ve was less forgiving on goofy side. If I wasn't listed enough, I started to get the double lip on goofy, had to kiss the rub rail. Regular side was more forgiving that way.

            Taps on the 24ve, would adjust bow rise and steepness, on the RZ2, I can see the back actually sink in more, and compensate for a bit less weight.

            Bottom line, the RZ2 is a Surf Wake making machine. Dennis, the master weighter has been loving it, like the canvas to the master painter. LOL.

            I can give you exact setup, here it is:

            Surf side rear: ~1100lbs (water and lead)
            Surf side front: 600lbs - 650lbs (water and lead)
            People weight on surf side ballast positioned: 660lbs
            Other people: 290lbs

            Total: 2700 lbs, only 300lbs overweight I believe. And remember, 2700 lbs is EVERYTHING, not just ballast.

            Let me add this, we also did runs stock on wed. and then dialed in our DAILY weight on wed. with water only.

            Stock makes a good recreational wake, but you need people, like when we did the review, we had enough people to make a wake that felt just about as good as our weighted Ve, not quite, but real close.

            Now, for our daily weight, all you need is 1 bigger sac to replace the 350 fly high. We used a 750 in there, and probably got 600 lbs in it. The wake was perfect, kissed the rub rail, and it was nice, and safe for everyday use. Plus, with people and all we were under manuf weight. I will post more on that setup later. But that is how easy the RZ2, fill up pro stock on one side, replace the 350 with a ~1000lb sac or so. Fill up the large sac depending on your people weight.

                I can't believe how far you put the boat into the water. that wake is absolutely amazing. My RZ2 looked real good and clean with 9 people in the boat, but not quite like that. I am going to have to make those adjustments. I had some questions. I have an old fly high 750 lb sac, is it exactly replaceable wtih the 350 sac.
                GO BIG!!

                    @hyco, no. The sac in the RZ2 is custom with custom fittings and placements. Chpthrill may already have something that fits. But I have been busy and haven't spoken to him in a while.
