In any case, I have an FAE as it to me is a safety measure worth its cost and more.
I do wonder what the effect is at say 30 feet back where my kids ski and stay largely inside the table. The CO that is now into the wash surely rises out at some point.

What's so special about FAE's tubing? Seems like you could just attach suitable tubing to your exhaust ports and angle it down into the water.
Also, it's interesting that they usually center the exhaust. That puts it right behind the TAPS plate. Seems like you might want it to the side of the plate so the tube doesn't affect the water coming off the plate.
Finally, I worry about lengthening the exhaust pipes like that. It's not the length so much as it's the DEPTH. You're increasing the length of the water column that must be 1) pushed out to start the engine, and 2) held out when the engine is running. Exhaust systems are often carefully tuned to the engine in question, and this would directly alter how the exhaust system works.
I absolutely love the idea but wonder about its execution. Have the engine manufacturers taken a position on FAE?

I've never heard of anyone having an engine related problem due to having an FAE. I've never had an issue in 5 years.
So far as the tubing goes, good luck on trying to make your own. The down pipe is tapered and cut and blah, blah, blah. By the time you get it figured out, materials purchased, get it cut, welded, and finished, you could have ordered it and had it on there and been done. Spend the $400 bucks and be done with the CO.
I'll just save you the time of trying to analyze the FAE to death. It works and it's worth every penny. Done. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

But it would be interesting to start a poll and ask how long you have had FAE installed and if you have had any engine problems.2009 RZ2, PCM 343, MLA Surf Ballast, Premium Sound.

They direct the exhaust to the prop wash behind the rudder.
