    Factory FAE?

Is this a dealer option? Seems like all of the threads are on aftermarket add ons. I have never ridden on an FAE equipped boat but from what everyone on the site says they are quieter and of course dissipate the exhaust.
So why wouldnt this become standard among wakeboard boat manufacturers?

    Two possible reasons:
    1. Cost
    2. Liability

agreed. and i really am under the impression that most people who buy wake boats, are not serious wakeboarders/wakesurfers....wakesurfers are really the only ones that benefit much from it, so that would be my guess of dealers standpoint.
We crank the tunes so sound is really no big deal, would crank them even if the motor was quieter.

Would be a cool option tho, I agree.

We are serious boarders and surfers. We dont have one. Surfers will never have an issue with exhaust. All exhaust goes to the opposite side of the wake they are riding. Only person that complains about exhaust is that person riding on the sun deck and they should not be there anyway.

Sorry man but, i gotta throw out the . I've ridden behind a couple of boats now without FAE's and I notice it (exhaust) a lot while riding. If you say you don't notice, it's because you have convinced yourself of that. If you had an FAE you would know just how bad it really is. I'm not trying to stir up **** but dude, your wrong. Sorry.

yup, it all has to do with the direction the wind is going.....

I agree 100%. Last year (pre-FAE) there were a few times surfing the fumes were miserable. Not this year...thank you FAE.

If you are going to surf, you must have FAE. I didn't think it was that bad until I got the FAE. good investment.

Best option we ever put on ours.
Wouldn't have a boat like this without it.
When we first got our boat we could smell the exhaust just sitting there idling and we have a V-drive.
At the end of the day we all had headaches.
First trip with the FAE was awesome, so quiet, no smell and no headaches ever since.
We could actually talk to each other while underway.
If you can smell any exhaust at all I'll bet your are getting a load of carbon monoxide which is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non-irritating.
It is very difficult for people to detect.

So on the liability question. Is the liability aspect coming from the boats that would not have the FAE on it? Somehow by offering it now it is an admission that a standard through hull exhaust coupled with the reasonably expected activities performed on this boat (specifically surfing) could be hazardous without it?

Possibly. I'm actually surprised someone hasn't jumped on it and used that angle to sell some boats. Centurion started down that path with the Sideswipe but, that's as far as anybody has gone with it. I think with the advent of the CAT systems, builders saw them coming and waited (nervously) for them to come into existence. I feel kinda bad for Larry Mann. It was/is an inspired idea I certainly love my FAE and just about everyone with one feels the same way. It just never got past being an aftermarket item. I would think he was hoping a builder would pick it up. I'm sure there is a laundry list of reasons why no one ever did, however effective it is.

I notice no difference whatsoever while skiing. I wonder what the effect is at the length of trainer skis?

My 22i is still quite loud.

As for why not factory - perhaps Larry has not wanted to go down that route.

I have found the complete opposite. After surfing for a season behind ours with the FAE, it was instantly noticeable when I got behind one without FAE.

Me too. I can smell it sitting in the rear seats.

As an aside, one of the kids that rode with us and went to the INT US Championship died from CO poisoning. Not quite sure what happened, but I think she was on the swim platform putting on her board while the engine was running. Just slipped off the back of the platform and drowned. What a waste of a life. NEVER, EVER leave the engine running with people on or near your swim platform!
