    Hours Meter

We took the boat out this weekend (for another great weekend of boating), but I noticed one strange thing . . . the engine hours meter on the boat seems to have reset. Everything else seemed to work as usual. Has anyone ever had this happen? What would cause it? My fear is that it might be an indication of a larger problem . . . but like I said, everything else seemed to work perfectly all weekend. If it helps, I have an 06 22i.

There are a few threads on this topic. It sounds like most of the problems are with Faria Gauges. The real hours are stored on the ECU and can be retrieved with the proper tools. It seems it might reset due to low voltage or even charging the battery.

Try a search using hour meter reset or hourmeter reset. Good luck.

Yep - same, some glitch reset the guage late last year. Real Engine hours are stored on the ECU and can be retrieved with a computer hooked to the maintenance port. As for the Faria guage - hey, I have 46 hrs on the boat now.

My son found a way to add the hours to the hour meter. It worked well.
Here is the contraption that he built.
