Alpha Z tower on older tige

Any one done it.. Any idea if you could mount it and how does the Z tower bolt on? Oh and what do you think the tower would cost?

Are the older Tige's the same width as the newer ones? What's a new one's beam, like 102" or something isn't it?

I think i remember someone saying that it can't be done. It is built into the boat or something like that.

        Yep, my '99 is 102".

The amount of reenforcement that will need to be done would cost a lot in order to put the tower on. IMO, look at other towers.

I'm not sure about that, there is a ton of room where my rear tower mounts. I don't think it would be all that tough to get a super thick piece of metal about 2' long up under there to reenforce that area. If you have the cash, and the width is the same, then I think it's probably a doable feat. Now, the actual ACT of getting up under there and working it out----have fun with that!!! lol

What does the tower alone cost? I LOVE the new tower!
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I asked Harvey about this when my boat was at the factory this past winter. He said it couldn't be done. He said the molds are different and the amount of re-enforcement to handle the AZ was cost prohibitive. I guess anything's doable if you have the money...

It is doable, b/c I was going to put an illusion on my boat right before Metcraft went out of business. It's just a matter of getting the metal cut to length and expoxying it in place.

The wind shields are lower profile on the on the new boats. When I was getting a new tower I asked about the AZ tower on my RZ4 & I would have to have gotten a new windshield.

That's definitely something to keep in mind. Of course, thats IF your going to fold it! I've never folded a tower on ANY boat I've owned. LOL

Actually, it's not for the ability to fold the tower, but for the placement of the legs. Starting in 2009, Tige used a windshield that does not extend as far back on the sides of the boat. The 2008 windshield actually extends past the Alpha Z mounting points.

I love the alpha Z and would love to have something similar on my 98 2200V. Unfortunately, it seemed too much work to put on so went with the Razor. Absolutely love it.

$8k goes a long way toward a decent down payment of a new boat.....
