    Weigh Scale in Austin TX?

Ok...still trying to figure out how to get my damn trailer registered. Does anyone know where a scale is in the Austin area to weigh my trailer? DMV has no ideas. Just wondering if anyone else has a clue.

    thanks!

Most Flying J and Petro and Travel America truck stops have weigh scales so the Truckers can get certified. I bet there is something along I35.

(And while doing it, queue up the song "Willin" by Little Feat on the Waiting for Columbus album and sing along with the lyrics "driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed....." Then listen when it morphs into that 70's anthem "Don't Bogart That Joint, My Friend") Lowell George, may he rest in peace.

I figured...but the closest of any of those is about 40 miles from my house as I'm on the far north west side of town (Leander). Was hoping to find something a bit closer.

        Try google maps:

        Maps.google.com

Search for Austin, tx. Then in the search bar type certified scales or certified truck scales. I would look on the website for flying J or CAT certified scales.

When I went to register my new to me boat for the first time they asked me what the trailer weighed and I just guessed. Figured they charge by the weight anyway. Double axle should be no more than 2000#. Single axle around 1500#?? depending on steel used, box or channel frame.. I would just call the manuf. and they would know.

Knowing what it weighs isn't the issue. I know that. Problem is that Texas requires a legit proof of weight for a trailer that has a GVWR of more than 4,000 pounds. It's a pain in the arse. I got a letter from the manufacture and they wouldn't take it.

Yeah, I had the same problem this spring and only way I could find someone was by calling the RV dealership up in Georgetown.

Here's where you gotta go: A1 Freeman Moving and Storage; 590 Green Hill Drive Round Rock; 246-3706

Cost me $5 bucks and just takes a sec. You don't need an appt or anything.

One thing I'll tell ya, after all my searching and finally got an official certificate from A1 the lady at the DMV didn't even ask me for it when I went to register the trailer. You might try getting it registered without the certificate.

Thanks Wake...that's what I was looking for. I've already tried to register it and they wouldn't do it without a weight slip. So I'll drive it up there when I get a chance. Thanks for the info.
