    boat trailer with motorcycle

Considering having a custom add on to the boat trailer so I can haul the dirtbikes. Anyone seen pics?

I have seen a custom trailer that has double jetskis on the front and an I/O boat on the back.

If this were a perfect world, I would be able to load my Harley on the boat trailer for really good and long trips. The concept would be to extend the trailer in front, mount the bike across the squared off trailer. The 850 lbs would dictate some sort of pivoted wheel(s). Pics anyone??

When you say pivoted wheel, do you mean being able to move the axles fore and aft to balance the tounge weight? You would want the axles forward with the bike on the trailer so the boat would balance the weight of the bike but when you want to launch the boat, move the axle aft to keep a some weight on the tounge with no bike there. I guess it sounds complicated but that's how I would have it built.

An axel that had to be moved to balance the load would be a problem because of the situations of both loaded, boat off bike on and boat on bike off and the frequency of the different configuration.

No, I was thinking about a load bearing wheel(s) at the front of the trailer that take most of the weight off of the hitch. Since that front wheel is not steerable, it would have to pivot.........and have sufficient spring length to still take the load over dips in the road / drives / ramps. Think of a shopping cart w/ spring loaded front casters.

All of this is just a pipe dream, a good brain excerise and something to talk about. I am not starting this tomorrow or next year. If it were reasonable & feasable, we would be seeing this on the road now. But if I could.............

How big is your truck. You could put a hitch on the front and use a modified cargo holder in the front hitch to hold your bike, I have seen that setup on the road, on an RV.

How about a stinger hitch to help with tongue weight?

That is cool, I have never seen one of those. I used Timbren helper springs on my 4Runner to reduce a little sag. You can get Timbrens in many different load capacities as well.

Way cool! I added that as a Favorite. That is what I was thinking about!!

Now, like I said before, if this were a perfect world: I noted the 65 mph speed limit, which I do not have a big problem due to the heavy load, but........I would like to see them modify the Stinger w/ larger, SUV /truck type wheels and tires. I like overkill.

But that is really neat. Good ol' Tigeowners.com.

Dave S: Thanks for the link.
Ewok: I have a Tahoe w/ trailer package.
Hey 2whlin: You out there? Sorry, I did not mean to hijack your question, but this all seemed to flow. I'll (try to) be quiet now.

Boatmate Trailer, LLC has made custom trailers where the bike is behind the boat. Check out their web site and look at customs. They make trailers for Supra, Tige , Moomba and others.

                    I hope this helps out.

Whoa!!! I like it. Much simpler. I will contact them. I would have them verify 1) Trailer is strong enough to that the 850# dead weight at the 12 to 14' cantilever 2) Trailer suspension and tires could that that load 3) Tongue weight with and without the bike.

Maybe it is an all new, not modified (Dorsey) trailer. Then again, I guess I should also contact Dorsey, see what they say.

This could be a fun winter project! Thank you MoneyPity.
