If it is 1:1, try the Acme 525. I love mine. It's a 3 blade, but it's enormous (surface area wise) compared to a 4 blade. We run lots of weight and it handles it just fine.

^^^^ That's what he has and states the fuel consumption is killing him.

Hmmm...my fuel consumption's better surfing than wakeboarding. I'm not sure how much better you can get it with that big engine in there. We're usually between 5 Gph & 6 Gph.

I have a 2006 22v and i had the same problem! I asked what prop i neded for my boat since we ran so much ballast in order to get out of the hole faster! Well they said i needed a 537 so i spent 450 and bought one! Well i installed it and the boat wouldnt go over 25 mph and 3k rms. After a closer inspection i realized i had a black 1:1 v-drive! So i put my 525 back on and i am gonna go to the 911 which is the upgrade for the 1:1! Hope that helps.

I spoke to Todd and he recommended the 911 also. So I will give that a try and see what happens. I have the 525 and the 515. The 525 is what I have been running and I a m hoping to get better performance from the 911.

Sounds like it's confirmed that you do indeed have a 1:1 gear. If you were looking for better hole-shot and speed holding, the 911 is what I would recommend, but for reducing fuel usage, down-pitching goes against theory. The 515, 525 and 911 are all 13" dia and have a 1.5" pitch difference between them. This is not a huge drop, but enough to make the normal improvements one would be looking for. Normally, down-pitching increases RPM's, which = more fuel consumed. Now, if the current setup had tons of slip, then the improved "grip" could actually bring down RPM's and therefor either hold the consumption steady (but performance went up) or maybe even show a slight decrease.

Glad the mystery is solved, I hope the 911 gets you what you're looking for.

Knowing what gear the boat has is a HUGE piece of the puzzle, so having this info, it's easier to make an accurate recommendation. Most of the time, the 911 is the recommended upgrade for the 515 or the 525, so i'm pretty sure you would see the improvement you seek.

Let em know if I can help, i have one in stock.

When we talked on the phone yesterday we discussed what CHP mentioned in the above comments. We can certainly work it out to get you set up with a new 911.

If anyone is looking for a good used 537 prop I will have one and will sell it for $360.00 plus freight. The prop is in great condition and I know someone on this thread can say it is perfectly smooth and no vibrations from it. Send me a PM if your interested.

Any update to this, Bandsecurity? What prop did you end up going with and did it improve your situation and did you achieve your goals?

                      Thanks,
