I did the same thing, had the sacs in and used tsunami pumps, made sure it all worked as I wanted, then plumbed over winter.

I bought two custom sacks and two tsunami pumps and manually filled for last season and half this season. It does not take that much extra time but does involve more crawling around on the boat while everyone else is drinking beer and having fun ;-) It is a great way to amortize cost too ... spring for the bags this year and the plumbing next.

That custom sack makes a huge difference. 1000 pounds hidden away and snugly fit.

I do not think I would want to run one bag and switch sides with it. I rarely get to set up the dark side now ... with all that extra work, it would be even less. I would especially not want to have to repeatably put the bag in the starboard locker (it is a pain to get it stretched out correctly because there is no access from under the seat).

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Install went great (thanks in large part to parts expertly spec'd by chpthril). Had to have the drain line re-run as the riser loop was under the gunwale, which was lower than the engine-side of the bag when under surf ballast (leading to auto-drain). Lines re-run so that riser loop was inside of removeable engine bulkhead. Worked just fine but noticeably slows down drainage.

I meant to get pics last two weekends but was so busy boarding and surfing that I forgot Will do so soon.

All great info guys, thanks. How were people keeping the sacs on the very back corner without them falling in?? I'm thinking of tieing it off to the ski pylon? Yes, I know, custom sac..... Next season.

Great info sharing here. Does the same 'much less in the front than most of us try' still apply to a 2000 21V hull???

Ran 0% in the front ballast (but figured out how to have my 110 lb dog ballast stay on the right side up front) and tied off the ballast bag to the ski pylon on the suntan bed. Got the rubrail down to 1". Basically, this would be the 1000 lb custom sac I guess. I'll post pics over the weekend. Still fiddling with taps and speed. Currently at 10.6 and taps 4. (darkside).

For what its worth, I have a 97 PRE 2150w/t. I put a 450#bag next to the motor, one just in front of the back seat and one on the seat. Then we run taps full over to 7, and about 10.5 mph. The wake runs back about 10-15 feet I guess. Here's a pic (not a real good one but you get the idea)

Ya better make sure "Barney" sitting on the stern doesn't fall in.

                      The driver looks familiar.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

This is what we are doing as well. Just got the custom sac last week. I have the drains plumbed in with Tsunami 800's and then we took the manual fill Tsunami 1200 and had them both going at the same time to maximize the drain time. So far so good. As soon as I get my fill side plumbed in I am thinking we run manual fill and automatic fill to go even faster.

                          Nice wake!

I have been messing around with 2 350 lb sacs and I am getting a descent wake, but unable to drop the rope.. Guessing that the board is too small(4'6") for my stature of 6'2" and 225 lbs.

Next step is to buy a longer board and add a few more lbs to my '01 21i.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but I find that having a "faster" board helps too. Last year AdamInMN brought a new board, same size as mine to the lake. the bottom was not as polished of a surface as mine, and it was hard to keep it moving. I have a CWB Ride board (5 1/2 foot?). It has a very polished bottom and therefore is very fast and easy to let go of the rope with. So that can make a big difference too.

A buddy brought over his 8'4" beater surfboard and everyone in the boat was able to play. I bring it up because its a learning tool to understand the whole pocket/wave push/weight transition thing you have to grasp to go ropeless on 'real' wakesurf boards. PLUS, its just fun

A buddy of mine keeps threatening to bring his long board out and surf the back side of the wake.
