When I buy a new car I can find out the dealer cost (invoice less factory incentives, etc.). How about boats? I'm in the market for a Switch i but have no idea where to start/end negotiations? Any suggestions on dealer cost info?

The car idustry came up with a great way to satisfy their customers, by creating invoices the customer feels as if he is getting a good fair deal. The invoice isnt a true cost of what the dealer actually paid for the car, there are rebates and holdbacks and bonuses galore. Since most car models and building 20 to 40 thousand vehicles a year they can come up with these volume sales plans. Boats are built on a very limited plan maybe a couple hundred per model, so most dealers are getting a hand full. A true invoice would be the cost of what the dealer paid the manufacturer, and if we all knew how much money the dealer actually made off of these boats we would flip out. Even though it sounds like a lot of money there are a lot of expenses that go along with having a dealership. This is the reason why the marine industry operates and discounts off of MSRP.
Go visit the boat shows and ask what % are the boats being discounted
This should get you an idea of where you will end up in price.
