    NW Iowa Trip - Okoboji and Clear Lake Show

    Road Trip! We're headed up to Lake Okoboji, IA on Sunday to check out the lake and the Tige Dealer (Mau Marine will be putting on our new replacement decals, under warranty). On Tuesday, we are headed to Clear lake, Iowa. Its a small lake, but we are pulling our friend on his foil in a "Typhoon Tommy's Water Show"

    The show is part of the entertainment for Ragbrai - which is a huge, annual bicycle ride across Iowa.

    Then back to work on Wednesday - sigh.

    This is our first time to any of these places - Anybody have any advice on Okoboji? Mau Marine? or Clear Lake?

    Okoboji is my Happy Place-spend a week @ Fillenwarth's every year on West Lake near Emporium/Arnolds Park. Met up w/Spenchy & Rensink (?) this summer.

    Depending on wind direction you can find good water near shores of West & East...esp all the way up to where East Lake meets Spirit lake. Locals can tell you better.

    watch for lake patrol under 71 Bridge. Have life jackets ready to show & type IV PFD

    MauMarine seems good-but I've just bot gas there & shopped casually

    Good bars/restuarnts inclide Braccos & Barefoot on East. Get a Nutty Bar near Arnolds Park & ride the coaster if you have a few mins.

    Never been to Clear Lake.
    Hope to do RAGBRAI some year.

        Be careful on the lake!!!!!!! We just had a horrible storm here and there is still some small logs and branches along with other things floating onto of the water and sitting below it.

        Other than that, its a great place. Get up early sunday morning and get the true okoboji boarding experience. Hit us up! Maybe we can catch up some place. What color boat is your 24 ve? Like rensink said, he's got a lime green rz2, i've got a yellow 22v. Both of us live in the harbor on the north side of west lake. Hopefully we get some nice weather.

        Party and wakeboard all day, thats the okoboji way!!!

          Great - thanks for the notes. I wish we could get up there early Sunday morning (we usually board at sunrise), but we have some other things going on so it looks like it will be closer to 6; Would like to get a few runs in before dusk, or meet up with either of you guys and check our your Tige's.

          We also plan on being out first thing Monday morning, or Monday evening. I've attached a picture of our 24ve. I'm staying at a place that is about a block from the airport/airstrip (or so I am told). One guy going with us has been there before, so that will help.

              jschnip, I saw you between the east/west bridge about 8 pm sunday. What a great looking boat you have! I hope boji treated you well, come back again!!
