    Sirius Problems

Does anyone have problems getting reception with the factory sirius clarion unit? I connected service and found that while sitting idle it works fine, but while driving signal fades in and out. I have XM in both my vehicles and have no issues other than occasional dense foliage disruption.

What antenna and where is it located?

I had terrible reception problems with the factory antenna. Got tired of it cutting out constantly whenever the boat was moving. So I installed an aftermarket antenna. The factory one is under the dash on the port side, and doesn't seem particularly large. I mounted this in front of the windshield (where the front tower leg would mount on a 4-leg tower). Have great reception now! Frustrating, but I just wanted to go with something that I felt would have no issues.

That is pretty nice. How much and where did you pick it up at?

The Shakespeare SRA-25 is also a good antenna. It's the one I use

It's not in the way at all. The dome portion on the right is mounted directly onto the flat area of fiberglass. It's around 4" diameter, and probably 1" or so tall. The mast thingy on the left is not needed. Just drilled a small hole to run the wire and secure it, then ran a bead of caulking around the bottom. I'll try to take a picture in a few minutes.

I can't remember for sure, but I think I got it from crutchfield.com for somewhere around $50-60. Search for Terk SirMarine Antenna.

I have the small factory antenna that is mounted on the passenger side right behind/beside the glove box. Looks like others recommend SRA-25 - just need to find a place to mount it. Thanks for the feedback!

Hmmm. I still need to activate my Sirius receiver

I looked around some last season but could not find the code on the receiver I need for activation. I love Sirius (in my MINI and at home; XM/Sirius in the Armada). Kind of ridiculous they do not have better subscription packages--they do not cut much for multiple units.

                  Fav Sirius stations?

In case anyone has a Blackberry or Iphone, you can download the Sirius app onto that instead of paying the extra radio fee every month. Thats what I do....

Duncan - I had to physically take the unit off the wall to read the back of Sirrus receiver unit (the ESN is printed on the back of the unit). I assume your is mounted underneath your receiver as well - same problem as channel 0 would not provide the radio ID on the clarion unit.

You can retrieve it from the head-unit once the receiver is sinc'd
