I am very familar with the FORD IDS System. I own one of those systems. It is not like that.

The marine manufacture do not have the Global OBDII standard for diagnostics. Each marine manufacure has their own connector simular to when things were the OBDI standard. The software can be loaded and activated on only on system. Where the FORD IDS system the activation is in the VCM so it can go on multiple systems and you move the VCM from computer to computer.

Scan tool is on order and should have it soon. I did find out that we do not have to purchase a seperate computer for this. The software will load on any computer. The cables are the key. So that does reduce the deposit cost some.

My thought is this. I will purchase the system. I will then lease it out to everyone that needs it.

Here is my thought on how to work it.

each person will be responsible for freight. There will be a daily usage fee, a, handling fee and I would have to have a credit card charged and then reimbursed when the tool is returned in complete working order for the total value of the tool and computer.

I am thinking $20.00 a day and that starts from the day you receive the tool and ends the day you provide tracking information that the tool is being returned.

It is getting harder and harder to fix these boats as the dealers go out of business and you have no where to take the boat for repairs.

Just give me your thoughts and let me know what you guys think.
How about we just invite you along and maybe you can bring your scan tool

I've got good dealer support, so, while it sounds tempting, I'd probably go to the dealer to figure out more complicated issues involving a scan tool.

Did this idea for a code reader ever pan out? I'm getting the popular intermittent and extremely frustrating limp/guardian mode. The boat won't even run after buzzer sounds for maybe 20 secs. Most of the time it occurs when warm. If I wait for 20-30 mins it will usually start right up. Fuel pump is good. Water pump/impeller is new. Wiring under dash and grounds are my primary suspicion, but a code reader might help me nail it down. I'm willing to rent if it will work on/connect to my 1999 2100i. Also, the dealer is like 3 hours away in Atlanta, so I'm trying to avoid a trip if at possible.

Maybe Tige should just get their dealer network and service level up to par with every other mfg and then we could have reliable, knowledgeable dealers to bring the boats to or have service techs visit our boats to help with these issues? Novel idea huh?

Make a seperate post describing EXACTLY whats happening and we'll help you nail it down. I'd take a random stab and say your probably having a TPS issue though.

REALLY? SERIOUSLY? I'd say Tige has a pretty damn good dealer network. Especially considering some of the new boats I've been looking at have a dealer network that's 15-18 hours away either direction and I'm dead center of the US. Maybe tell us where your at and we'll help you. Also you have to keep in mind that ALOTTTT of dealers have recently gone out of business due to the dem's crashing the economy (sorry I just had to ). It isn't just Tige losing dealers....it's EVERYBODY!

Thanks Tanner. I'm going to get on the water this weekend. If it happens again I'll let you all know the details. Btw, I did make a separate post under Mechanical.

If Tige is at fault, what exactly should they do different that you think the other brands do?
