Has anyone taught younger kids like 5-6 years old? How do they find out if there goofy or regular, does it just come naturally? Should I teach him to wakeboard or just go with training skies for now?

To find out if someone is reg/googy, give them some reason OTHER than telling them you are going to do a test to see if they are reg or goofy. Tell them to look at something on the horizon, with the feet together at a natural shoulderwidth stance. Then give them a push straight on the back, not so hard that you push their face on the ground, just enough to knock them off balance and see which foot the step out with. If someone is reg foot, they will step out with their dominate foot, the left. If they are goofy, they will step off with the right foot. For this trick to work, the person must have NO IDEA that you are about to push them to find out what foot is dominate. If they are thinking about it, they will prob step off with their right foot if they are right handed. You need a clear mind to see what the natural instinct is for the individual.

IF you can get a 5yo to stand still long enough to give him/her a little push, GREAT. I have been pulling my almost 2yo daughter on my skateboard in the driveway and I can def tell she is more comfortable and stable regular foot vs goofy, but time will tell, that is just me holding her hands and pulling her around slowly. Cute thing is I'm not forcing her, she see's me do it and wants to try it too!!!

At 5 years old, don't worry about whether they are regular are goofy. Everytime they get up make them switch, that way they will always be good riding either way. Don't give them time to get one sided.

Unless they really struggle to get up, always switch it up.
