    Night Surfing

It sounds like a blast. Any thoughts on its legality? I would love to see any video/pictures you guys have. What concerns are there when doing it?

We have done it with tower lights & attach a glow stick to the surfers vest for when he falls.

We did it once, knowing it was illegal. We did in Oct, so there was zero chance of a water cop being out. It was a BLAST

We tied a glow stick to the riders vest as well as the board. Had a spot light ready and had a spotter for the board and one for the rider.

I think i posted some pics on here somewhere! I would do it again, to

It is illegal in most states that I know of. In a nutshell, if you need your anchor/navigation lights on, you should not be towing a rider (even ropeless).

Having said that, I am ready to try it with the underwater lights.

I have gone out with friends who went barefooting (not me) in the middle of the night. That was nuts!!!

Yea its definitely illegal, but way fun. Normally will do it during the winter when no ones really out there.

Was talking to my brother about getting a night ride together, drop the boat in around 11pm and go surf till the sun comes up. Just gotta get a bunch of glow sticks haha, imean a TON. how cool would that be!?

Doubt a ranger will be out between 12 and 4 am....

I wanted to try this so bad this past week. We were on a private lake, but I could not get anyone to go out with me. Not to mention they were all a little too drunk anyway.

Try night ANYTHING around me and the water pigs will have you dripping in bacon grease faster than you can say "hit it!" to the driver.

..bastards ruin all the fun!!! lol

I've been in on some epic night rides but, not surfing. Completely illegal and a f'n blast. It's certainly not something I would ever suggest to a green captain. I've been boating and night boating most of my life and it's the blast but, it takes a lot of knowledge of your waterway and it conditions. I've seen some close calls and it's always a sobering moment. You and your crew need to be on point. You get a bunch of loud mouth drunks screwin' around while your tryin' to drive, tow and navigate, at night? Obviously not good. Get an experienced, levelheaded crew out on a full moon... Dream session.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I've done it plenty of times at the public lake near me since the rangers go in at 8:00pm. I have the single transom light and that makes it pretty cool. No glow stick for the rider, usually just turn around and hit the docking lights on to see them for a second and go slowly.
