Won't Hold Speed

My 08 22ve won't hold speed while just cruising down the lake. We were running about 30 mph and the speed just gradually crept up. I would backup the throttle to 30 and it would slowly speed up again. Any suggestions?

My 24ve will do this is rough water conditions, the throttle tends to advance as the boat slams. I am sure there is a way to adjust the tension.
