    Shorn bolt

I'm not sure how it happened. I must have tightened bolts on the impellar cover too tight when I changed it last fall. The head of the top bolt has shorn off. Now I've got water spraying on the belts.
The bolts appear to be brass and the housing seems to be steel. Is the best course of action to drill it out and re-tap or is there a different option I should try first. There is not enough of the bolt sticking out to grab with vice grips or pliers.
    Thanks in advance.

I would try an extractor first.
(With a extractor you drill small hole then insert it into the broken bolt.)
Some people call them ez-out, but that is a brand name
For a V-drive, you’re going to have to remove the pump first.
Tige, it's a way of life!

I would just replace the pump.
