    ipod connection

I'm trying to get my ipod to play through my stero speakers in my boat (06 22v). I elected to go with the ipod jack instead of just the plan audio jack. I ordered this cord after looking at the back of my clarion CMD4 head unit http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product

Upon connecting my ipod to the cord and head unit, the ipod reads that it is connected to the head unit but I can't find a channel through the head unit to get the ipod to play.

Any suggestions? Could it be that my ipod is running to new of software compared to my older 06 clarion head unit?

Hopefully yours is a CMD4A and not just a CMD4. Also, that CCA-Ipod will not work with all Ipods. Not sure what you mean by "channel". I think you scroll through the source menu till you find the Ipod, then it should play.

What is the difference between the CMD4A and CMD4? I have whatever came from Tige's factory.

Thats what I was thinking, if I need to use an older ipod. By channel I mean source, when I scroll through the different sources I do not find ipod. I only have tunner, cd, and aux.

The difference is the ability ot interface with the CCA-Ipod. The A has this enhancement. Your 06 could have either, as this was when Clarion was rolling out the CMD4A models. My 06Ve had an A.

If you have a CMD4A, I think you need to be under the CD source.

Ok i'll check that out after i'm off work today. That might have been the reason because I had a CD still in the player when trying to get it to work. Thanks for your help.

So no luck on taking the CD out and trying to play it that way. Ipod still reads its connected but I don't have a source to play it out of. Where on the head unit would it tell me if I have the CMD4A instead of the CMD4?

Should be right on the front of the unit. If there is not an "A" after CMD4, then it just a CMD4, not an "A".

I did the same thing on my CMD4 and it wouldn't work. I called Clarion and it's only the CMD4A model that the CCA cord works on. The option I ended up using is just a simple rca connection to the aux hookups. It's not the best in the world but it works.

I have CMD4A an CCAIPOD cable and it works fine so it sound like the issue is the older Head unit.

Even though you don't have Ipod control thru the CCA port it does give full funtionality of IPOd functions but Album names are truncated so if you have Best of Albums you cannot tell which one you are selecting. IMO the aux jack has a little inconvienence but full iPod functions are preferable. Only downside is where can you plug into aux jack. mine is on main dash. Second is charging iPod. I bought a cigarette adapter one. I use it now with MP3 devices now since I have my iPod hooked up with CCA cable and power adapter.

I have the ipod connection with an Alpine head unit. For mine to work, you plug in the ipod and then hit the source button until the ipod show up. If there is no ipod, it will not display the ipod option. Have you tried a different ipod?
