    TAPS vs. TAPS 2

What is the difference Between TAPS and TAPS 2? On my '99 21V Riders it just says TAPS, when did Tige start TAPS 2?

I think its just that convex plate, right? Or maybe its just how the newer ones have one hydrolic arm vs. 2?

TAPS was introduced in 1995 with a "variable hull". TAPS2 and the Convex V hull followed in 2003.

I'm not certain, but I think that the difference is a more pronounced rocker on the TAPS2/Convex V system.

Dingles got it. But I'm not sure if they started calling it taps 2 until 2004 because my 2003 was advertised only as taps.

Could have cause yours was a DD, and the newer convex hull with the more pronounced rocker benefited the V-drives more. They may have rolled the "TAPS-2" out on the V-drives first. The in or, the hull changed again with the Ve hull.

Is there a big difference between the wakes? Is taps 2 an improvement worth buying a newer boat for?

No, i wouldnt buy a newer boat for it. For a better wake, just add ballast haha.

You might be able to get the new system working on your boat, if the hulls dont need to be compatible, if that makes sense. just an idea.

Haha, I think you misunderstood. The difference from TAPS-TAPS2 has little if anything to do with the TAPS plate itself. The TAPS2 was merely the intergration of more rocker into the hulls which allows the TAPS plate to do its job more effectively.

IIRC. I think it switched from Hydraulic to electric in 2003 and went back to hydraulic in 2005.

I wouldnt think for the wake alone, eventually like me now, you'll want a better/newer boat just to have one. Here's a couple year old video i found on youtube of my 2000 21v making a descent wakesurfing wake. Not a bad looking wake, not real long or tall...but not bad either.

I'd rather be a conservative nut job than a liberal with no nuts and no job.
