    Wake surfing question

Ok one of the lakes that I go to will let you wake surf if it is not to crowded
The question I have, is do all wake surfers drive in a circle?
We had two on the lake last weekend, and they both where driving to the side the guy was riding (they would never go straight) also on guy was trying to surf at around 25 mph. I thought it was a slow sport?
Just wondering, as it makes it hard to figure out how to pass the other boat, as they are not relay hold any sort of line

First off, go straight haha. dont drive in a circle that will make the wave crappy. 25mph?

10-11 depending on weight is typically the best speed to go.

How do they allow it when its not to crowded? How do they tell you its ok to surf? cause people powerturning and thay kinda crap will throw way bigger rollers than your surf wave, regardless of the weight you run.

It is an LA county lake, so we have many rules that are not enforced all the time.
I love this one. They call it a no contact lake. Which means you cannot swim or wade in the water. But they allow you to ski / wakeboard. With regards to surfing, the rule is NO, but if it’s not crowded they will not bother you.

sounds like those r drivers in the "not too swift mode" or believe circle driving compensates for poor wave condition. We drive in long straightaways
and only turn when we run out of lake. all other surfers on our lake do same. If "circle driving" was preferred method, it would be all over this board and its not.

My wake is cleaner with a slight turn, but not a full circle.

Luckily, our lake is big enough to get away from most boats. Weekends and holidays can get a little crowded.

I wanna know there reasoning behind "no surfing"

dont get why it would be an issue.

The rule states that when towing a person, they need to be a minimum of 30 feet behind the boat.

Ah ok...you could fight it...your not getting towed at all...

"officer Im not being towed by the boat"
"No officer they just drove by and I paddled in, no rope was even used"

                  cant see that ending well!!

One of my buddies insists that I drive in a big cirlce. He's a little bitch about it. I HATE it! He seriously thinks the wave is better as we go in a circle. It does make it slightly larger, but it shortens the pocket to nothing. I make him drive straight when I ride. Sometimes turning a little bit helps get a small push if the rider starts to dall out of the wave--but NOT a big circle. That ruins the whole lake for everyone.

I mentioned it up there. just sayin how surfing in a circle would be like powerturning throwing rollers everywhere.

You don't need to turn if you weight the boat correctly, all the wieght on the side you are riding. maybe a slight turn to clean it up.

I learned to surf by going straight off the platform at 11 mph. I used the rope to help ease myself into the wake, but I suppose that with practice you could totally get out there and back in the boat without touching a rope. Obviously this would be with decent water and a good wave. Also, getting off the board would obviously be more difficult than getting back on. Your board actually rise pretty far before you go screaming down the wake and back toward the boat.
