    Lake Mead Warning(Boulder Harbor)

just a quick heads up to all of you who may launch at Boulder Harbor (formerly Las Vegas Bay Marina).
As we all know the levels keep dropping at Mead so I have been extra carefull where we play while boating.
This weekend while comming back from surfing and about halfway from the narrow part harbor or appx 150 to 200 yards from the dock, we were just cruising at just above idle in the middle of the marina and we here the dreaded "clunk" sound of prop on bottom? Not sure what is was but 1 blade on my prop scraped something all the while the depth guage was @ 6-8 feet.
The prop is barely nicked, nothing a quick polish wont fix.
The worse is yet to come as far as Mead's water level.
    PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!

Minor correction - Boulder Harbor is the former location of Lake Mead Marina.

That little passage is nerve wracking, for sure. They continue to attempt to deepen it as the lake level drops, using the excavator that is parked nearby. Unfortunately, I can only imagine that occasionally there will be a rock or two that get shoved aside, rather than collected in the excavator's bucket. And with the water so murky from stirring up the bottom, the operator of the excavator won't notice that one or two prop-destroying rocks are left right in the channel.

We continue to launch from there, just because Hemenway is such a zoo. Maybe having a spotter watching for potential danger from the bow will help.

*edit* - I just realized that you didn't hit something in the channel, but out in the harbor itself. Crap.

Yeah......my mistake--- Las Vegas Bay Marina---------

Dingle it is sketchy where they are digging the passage and that used to be my only worry at that launch....Oh Well I just hope this drought ends before too long!!

This unknown object was middle right on the way in.......I am not sure we will launch there anymore.

Could it have been a log under the water line? Wow, it's getting scary in Mead...

Doubtful that it would have been a log. We don't have too many submerged forests in the desert. Probably just one big fricken quagga mussel.

We launched form the new Callville ramp this weekend, It is muey bueno!

Only problem is the boarding dock is somewhat small and with all the numb n*ts using it as a social gathering point....

            Cheers,
