Talk me out of this....Thinking bout leaving Tige family

Not for another tow-boat brand though. NEVER!

Sooooo, I'm kicking around going to a custom go fast boat (V-hull not a cat). ALOT of my friends have towboats, so I can always get a ride if I want one. But I've been getting this bug and I don't know why. LOL.

Something about cruising 90+ on a big rough body of water and being to run to any marina quickly for lunch or dinner. Having a second motor in case one grenades is nice too! I do think the towboat is more practical though. Anybody have any input here?

I've found a very small west coast custom builder who's boats I like, and I've got great feedback from a few industry insiders and engine manufacturers about his boats. His price is right. I'm debating between a 30' and a 35'. He's trying to talk me into his new 35' and is cutting me a SMOKING deal if I'll let him use it for a magazine article. But I'm not sure I want the trouble of a 35', hell I bitch about my 24'! LOL

In no way is my mind made up, just curious what you guys think.

It's a different world..... Fast is fun, but $ per joy ride is a big difference. Two different worlds… Girls love clean boats, that's always the same... big boat needs big boat house.... big boat needs big truck... big boat has big gas tank....big boat needs big water.....
nothing like going 90+ but everything is bigger...

        Big Toy Storage - Check
        Big water - Check
        Big truck - Check

Big Fuel bill - Choked for a second when you look at the gallons/hour. Looking at twin 625hp Ilmore's. Maybe the fuel bill will be enough to talk me out of this.

Those boats rarely hit the water.
They are a one trick animal.
          The risk is bigger.
The maintenance bill will be unreal as will the insurance and repair bills.
I cant even comprehend paying for the gas.

At the end of the day though - its your money and choice to do what you want in your leisure time.

          Good luck with your decision!

What brand boat are you looking at? My dads got a 30' Howard that did 80mph stock & well over 100 now.

B&H Performance. A VERY small builder named Will Beddingfield that only does 4 or 5 customs a year.

He put me in touch with a few of his boat owners, and I set up a water test with one for this week. Was impressed with the boat, and what the customer had to say about the builder.

I spoke with Bob Teague of Teague custom marine, and he had nothing but good things to say about the builder. So that's good.

There powerboat magazine review was good, but I don't put much stock in magazine reviews, as we know they never bash anyone. LOL

Not for me. Go fast and that's all it's good for. To each his own. I may be wrong but, I bet you will be selling it in a couple of years to buy another tow boat. I am sure it will be fun to run 90+ and burn through $500 in fuel for a weekend but, that will get old quick. When it does it will just be a very fast floating dock to swim around.

Sounds like you have plenty of storage, Keep the Tige and Buy the new toy, you'll have the best of both

Wouldn't be for me, go fast and then...

But like posted above, and I agree wholeheartedly, you only live once!

Big $$ is what that mean but it is your choice and just look to make sure you get the right boat. Bob Teague is less than 80 miles from me and he builds very nice boats. If he says that this builder is good you can be sure he is good.

Something about 70-90 gallons/hour is really making me think again. I could maybe see 1, maybe even 2 poker runs a year. But good lord, I know some people that do a poker run every other weekend with these things. At that cost, wow!!!!
