    Exhaust Leak?

I am pretty sure I have an exhaust leak on the drivers side of my 2003 22V which is noticable on throttle up. Boat has 146 hours, a Mercurser 350/315hp and is in great condition. Any suggestion as to where to start the search?

Wow, well definitely find it. I believe you have a hose w/hose clamps on the back of each manifold correct? Start there. What makes you think you have a leak? You might just need to get an FAE.

Check manifold gaskets. What is your symptom? Loud exhaust noise? popping sound?

I had a freak need to replace manifold gaskets on a similar motor 2 years ago, 2005 Merc 350. Weird, I know but it happens...

      It's not an optical illusion.
      It just looks like one.....

Yea its a manifold gasket, confirm while out of the water today. Doesn't look like to bad a job. I have a lot of experience rebuilding motorcycle engines, so unless anyone has a horror story I will be tackling this one before the weekend.
        Thanks for your advice!

$9 part, about an hour of labor and two or three "dang this thing is heavy....hurry get the bolts in" and job done. Lots easier to work on these engines than the engine in a car.
