So I changed my steering cable this past week. Not sure what I did wrong but it was simple and only took me 20 minutes tops after I pulled all the panels out.
I was sent a 21 foot cable which I felt was way to long as I had tons of extra cable left over.
The steering effort is much less then before, however it is still tougher to turn left then right. Now someone will pipe up and say cause I am steering against the wash from the prop, well it is tougher when it is sitting out of the water, so that is not the issue. The steering also has lots of play and is kinda chunky on the left hand turn as it is easy hard easy hard. It still requires two hands to turn left but a mere finger to turn right.
My thinking is that I need to replace something in the helm to take the play out, but not sure where the tight chunky steering is coming from. The rudder is greased as always. Not sure if the rudder needs replacement either? Any ideas where to start. Just dont want to start buying things I do not need.
