    Boat Problems

I have a 2009 24Ve, we have put 40 hours on it in since September of last year.

When I took delivery of the boat, it ran okay for about an hour then it went into limp mode. That turned out to be a bad connection to the engine control computer. Ran fine for 10 hours.

Over the winter I had the dealer install the factory ballast option. We boated for about another 10 hours and the ballast would not work, it was a blown fuse. Replaced the fuse and then it ran well for the weekend.

The following weekend the nav lights blew the breaker and I could not reset it. The dealer worked on that and fixed it.

The boat is now blowing fuses frequently when using the ballast, and will also lose power at higher RPM's, but is very inconsistent with this. It has only done it twice, and both times the fuel tank was less than half full.

Is there something that would cause the ballast fuse to blow, and is it connected with the power loss issue?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had a loss of power issue with my new Z1 earlier this season with half tank of gas, sounds liek your symtpoms. The dealer replaced the pick-up tube in the tank and all is good, it was coming out of the gas and sucking air. I also had a ballast issue tripping the circuit breaker and that ended up being the wires came loose, dangled over the driveshaft and shorted out. My two issues were not related.

Have your dealer check the pick-up tube in tank if they can find nothing else wrong.

Thanks! I forwarded this on to my dealer. I had heard of the pick-up tube before and it definitely sounds like the right direction.
