    Wakeboarding Speed?

I have been searching the threads and cannot find discussion on wakeboarding speed... if you want to point me to the threads that would be great. I have been experimenting with speeds/rope length on my 22Ve and am having trouble finding my sweet spot in the wake. What speeds/rope length have you found works best? Thanks in advance.

i like to use 75 at like 23.5 ish... have some people who ride with us use 80 to 85 at 25 to 27... if your at 60ft i would start at something like 20 21 or at 70 do 22- 23 ... i would say just play around try different things until you find the spot you like and a speed you like..

That's some great advice...essentially you want to find the sweet spot in your wake given the speed & rope length, provided the riders skill level. If you're just starting to jump wake to wake go with the shorter rope and slower speeds. Once you feel comfortable cutting hard into the wake and landing in the flats, its time for a longer length and a faster speed.

Throw your rope out at any length behind the boat. Get the boat up to speed and where the rope handle rests in the wake just before the wash is where your sweet spot is. Then adjust a bit either way to find where you are comfortable.

You should be able to clean the wake up with the taps. Higher the taps the closer the sweet spot gets to the boat. The slower you go the closer it gets as well. I suggest find the speed you are comfortable with and adjust from there. Like Loadelectronics said, just before the white wash is the sweet spot.

This is all very helpful and is what I was looking for. I was trying to experiment while boarding and would end up tired and frustrated... I will still need to do this but the handle idea will save a lot of energy!

I highly recommend no rope length shorter than 70ft. Anything shorter and you are not able to develop the correct progressive cut. That being said your speed will probably no less than 21mph.
